Yeah its scars, tats, face, voice are all fixed, oh a body type.

Body type isn't locked to a character. Let's say you name your character Bob. You play a game round as Heavy Bob. It ends. Start a new game as a Light Bob. Same customization items, just a light body type.

No, that is incorrect. You are able to "change body types" between levels, but that is done by changing between one of your 16 characters, each with a set body type.

Really? My bad. I understood it as changing body types of the character.

So i was right about was is fixed on your character when you make him tats, scars, face, voice and body type, if you can add more scars as you go throughout the game to represent win and losses that would be cool.

I'm not sure, but I think there are some faction exclusive tattoos as well.

I remembered reading that somewhere too, which led to my confusion when it was said tattoos would carry over from Security to Resistance skins and vice versa.

Maybe it's like the masks in Army of Two, every faction tattoo has a counterpart that is applied to the other side's skin.

Elaborate and witty bump so new board members can find this easily. Comment on how less questions will be made on gameplay by new board members. Lackluster apology to those looking for more info.

Please don't bump threads.

This cleared up that issue for me as well, thank you. Now I know that if I invest a lot of time and effort into one character it has a lasting effect, though I want to only play my "main" for the majority of the time when the game releases.

You are able to transfer unused experience from one character to another, which will because really useful once you reach the level cap with your main.

When I heard that I was glad, not being able to use all that XP would have been a waste. This way even the characters I hardly ever touch will feel some love, and it won't be that annoying "ah I've got to go play my svcky guy now" feeling.

I think I'll spend some more time at the lower levels after I've got my main character up, just so I can have the experience of playing the game with and without all of the abilities, as the gameplay at lower ranks will have less bells and whistles.

Ah, but the matchmaking in the game is based on character levels, so at lower levels you will be playing less experienced players for the most part.

In any other game this could end up being hilarious, but Brink's emphasis on teamwork makes me think that a veteran player going and playing with some new converts will lead to some really good team building/leadership skills. IF the newer players listen that is.

Go play TF2 in a server full of new players. None of them work together, nor listen to strategy, and most of them switch over to defense the moment they start losing. Which results in a disorganized collection of players who refuse to push, not a team willing to listen to a more experienced player.

If i could actually find newbies willing to listen i would be happy to be a mentor of sorts, but I don't see it happen often. I even find it understandable. If I am new to a game I don't want to have to try to study different strategies, I just want to have fun and usually charge in as an idiot. Actually, that's not too different than how I play normally.

Actually, that's not too different than how I play normally. - somehow I can't 100% believe this, or at least take it with a straight face ;)

I suppose you could say I have high hopes, and I would play TF2 if I was more of a PC gamer/had the right setup for it. In Gears literally everyone has a mic, yet they ignore or even complain about call outs or strategies, it's all about the kills. I've felt a yearning for a real team FPS for a long time, just hoping Brink can fill that void.

I have quite a bit of FPS experience, and do my best to learn the basic strategies of the games i play. I then take that knowledge and apply it to my gameplay, but it still basically equates to me charging in as less of an idiot. Yes, being cautious, playing defensively, or pushing slowly work wonders in the right situation, but sitting around waiting for the right moment is boring to me, I'd rather be at the front lines as much as possible.

Hmm how to describe my play style? I tend to find that even my close friends are lost in their own world, especially when playing shooters. I became known for doing seemingly "random" things like circling all the way behind spawn. While it seemed random it actually proved to be quite fruitful and yielded not only good memories but also netted the team more than a few wins. I don't enjoy being alone on the front lines, but give me a buddy and sure I'll go and watch his back. I like to specialize, and can't wait to play as a Light Op in Brink - it just seems tailored to a play style I've been trying for a long time.

I also get bored, so "random" works.

I guess you could call me a point man, but that term implies that I actually care if people on my team are following me. If they are, I am occasionally at the front of an epic push, if they aren't I'll be able to hold the other team up, even if just for a little while. Seems like we could have some fun together.

I'm all for sneaking behind people and then shooting. I usually try to slip by the frontlines of an enemy, and then I start shooting/killing. I love causing confusion and havoc among the other team, even if it means I don't get all the points or credit. I just need the personal satisfaction of knowing I screwed the other team's plans over.

A point man, very fitting term. I like to provide support above all else, though I can (on occasion) help in other ways like being a random BA who luckily got x amount of kills or stopped the teams rush. I just like support, because so much is impossible without it.

It does seem like fun could be had indeed.

not quite a good comparison, but i'm playing the world of tanks beta atm, and going back to the first tanks often is more fun than going up against the later tanks, especially if your team listens to your commands.

cuz if they don't, then half will die in a rush leaving you with only half as many tanks to cover your position...

i must say telling them to defend everytime someone complains often let's them defend, and the smart ones seem to grasp that the other team is just as impatient and thus prone to rush

I think the attack/defend style of Brink maps we've seen thus far will prevent the usual problems in objective based gameplay of people being stupid. A team doesn't have to balance its attack and defense, so the frequent issue of new players just running at the enemies base and leaving one's own base undefended won't happen.

I predict people who just pick up the game (without having been on the forums or something similar) picking up the game, saying "cool I have this SMART button" and then proceeding to play the game like Halo. Complete with complaints and everything.
