Brink localitation on steam

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 10:39 am

Hi

I'm considering to buy the pre-order of Brink on Steam, but I see on their market page that the only language avalible is English.
In other stores I observe that the game has text and voices in my language (spanish).

Can someone tell me oficially if the Steam version will have localitation?

Thanks

I've heard offical word that there is very good German localization, so I'd imagine they did localization for all the major languages, if not more.

Yes, I know the game is already translated since the new videos have the voices in my language, but what I want to know is if the Steam version will have the language choice, since a lot of game have that on it, but there are a few that, even having located, doesn't have avalible the language choice in Steam. And yes, I know that I should seek these info in the Steam forums, but I hadn't got any official response.

Well, the German voice acting is the worst.

If a language pack is available for your language, Steam would give you the option to use it.

As said before, I have seen games that are in my language in retail version, but not in the Steam version, that's why I fear that happens again in Brink

if you can't get a lang pack from Steam, it'll be available from a retail purchaser, they can just send you the files

Finally I got a response. Steam staff says this game is not translated (What?), and won't be in other language than english. I will purchase the retail version..

I doubt this is true.
When there is a localised retail version, Steam should definately be able to offer the language pack as well. They get the same files like on the DVD, after all.

Saludos cordiales

Thats a part of the conversation I had with steam worker via support ticket. Basically he says that even the game has a spanish version, the steam version don't.

Maybe the steam version, with all the adds like steam cloud and the rest, differs from the retail version,

Considering the retail version runs through Steamworks for multiplayer, I'm inclined not to believe that...

Are you sure? Maybe the retail version can go trough Steamworks or not... anyway, if that so, it has no logic that they don't put on the languages

BRINK utilises Steamworks. The retail-version has to be registered with Steam, like Half Life 2 had to, back in the days.

That video was "Funny then? disturbing then entertaining then all at the same time!" (an actual YT comment on another video )
