Brink on PS Move

Post » Thu Apr 08, 2010 10:34 pm

Has anybody heard of the Brink being on the PS move? It would be great if it were. It is not impossible because KZ3 is doing it so why not Brink.

Motion capture is difficult to add to a multiplatform game, and both the PS Move and Kinect are quite different so it isn't merely an issue of porting.

I see. On the Move it is very possible since games such as KZ3, Black Ops on wii, and some other games have done it already. Although i dont see it ever happening on the Xbox. Their fault for making it like it is. If you cant put motion controls on xbox just put it on PS3 since it already has a system that works with shooters.

The XBox 360 has it's own motion control device, the Kinect, but it functions very differently than the PS Move. (From my understanding the Kinect can also be attached to a PC although I don't know anything about this).

Motion Capture isn't plug-and-play, Sony can't just plop a piece of code at Splash Damage's doorstep and have it implemented by the end of the week. Incorporating something like this would be a considerable undertaking and it would only affect one platform out of the three supported. If Splash Damage added Kinect support instead it still wouldn't be accessible to all three platforms.

Since there is no one motion capture system that will work for Brink it seems unlikely that they're pursue this. Regardless I don't believe I've ever seen a statement from Splash Damage reflecting an interest in motion capture.

I seriously doubt that using PS Move for playing shooters is fun at all. Maybe as a party-game, but nothing for real gamers.

That's just like trying to play a fighting game with a DDR pad.

For competitive play I'm sure you'd want more precision than the PS Move offers - but I'll point out that tons of gamers play FPSs on gamepads because they enjoy this more than a keyboard and mouse and I could see the same being true for the PS Move. It's certainly more feasible that combining SMART with the Kinect. :)

If someone wants the feature I see no reason to stop them . . . although I do think it's impracticable to add the feature to a multi-platform game and give them that option. Killzone 3, unless I'm mistaken, is a PS3 exclusive.

Have you seen the new sharp shooter accessory for KZ3? Makes it look and feel like a real gun. The point is to bring you closer to what it would be in real life. I understand what you mean though, but your thinking more about the Wii which only has mostly party games. The PS3 is different.

possibly, but now that you mention it, i want a fighter game with kinect support >.>

wouldnt make me actually pay for the console, or for kinect if i had a 360, but it would be fun to bum it off of a friend.

Heh, still you'd most likely get killed easier as if you were playing with a gamepad, just because all those movement-tracking-gadgets have some remarkable translation-lag.

Ummm no you don't did you ever hear about that flop of a fighting title they released with the release of kinect?

There are just some things that motion controls should stay away from ATM and fighting games are one of them.

The devs had already said they have no plans for supporting motion controllers in Brink - http://www.newbiesinc.com/2010/06/28/splash-damage-potential-in-motion-control/
