Brink needs a HD Texture Pack after major fixes

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 4:49 pm

Topic says all.

The textures this game has are not PC worthy, not even console worthy. (you could put some of them in Half Life 1 and you wouldn't see a difference between the original and the Brink textures). Some other textures are good on the other side.
We are living in 2011 and the times of blurry, washed out textures should be over.

The idTech 4 engine can definetly do way better then that.

Dont get me wrong,i don't wanna make this game a Crysis but the textures definetly need some love,on PC and on Consoles too.

Also......this game needs shadows.Where are the shadows? o_O
I looked up some screenshots from brink and there were nice smooth shadows everywhere but now in the game they are not there. o_O

I'm confused on what you mean, I see nothing wrong with the textures.

Go to a random object in Brink and watch the textures for some moments. You will see,not really sharp.

Yeah textures have the uncanny behavior of slowly generating right in front of you, at least on consoles. (ps3)

That gametrailer review had it right when they focused on the texture problem.

I'm sure the textures could look the way they do in the screen shot, if you stand there for like 5 minutes.

On PC when i had my settings maxed it was pre-generated, when I changed my settings to LOW and the object will slowly draw from a blurry box into a sharp one.

It is your settings.

I think they should improve the texture loading speed. It is quite slow already. I am playing on ps3 and textures are following the camera with 1sec delay. I have not really seen anything like this before on ps3

Yeah neither have I.

It is as if they had the PC version on low rez and ported it over directly. Nah can't be.

So i have to change my settings to low to get a sharp texture after some seconds loading?

Are you kidding?

What i mean is on MAX it looked sharp and didn't load slow.

When i was LOW it loaded from blurry to sharp slowly.

Here guys watch the screenshots.

Obviously you don't look 5 minutes on a texture thiking to yourself how [censored] it looks but with makin the textures overall a bit sharper the game would overall look a bit better and more 2011'ish then 2006'ish at some points.

Oh I know that you are trolling! But thats not the point. Game looks OK, not super duper uber, but OK. So no need for this and btw totally unrealistic ;)

No one think that a game looks like pre rendered graphics like the nextgn one!

I agree the game looks OK it has a nice atmosphere i think (even though i think it's lacking some shadows here and there but not sure ^^) but some textures are really ugly.

However, maybe they will work on that to improve them a little or not. There are definetly many other problems that need to be worked out in first place such as Lag,fps problems, netcode and all that stuff.

Iam not a graphics [censored],gameplay always over graphic but still idtech 4 has a little more to offer i think.

Dude... that was a drawing, not a screen shot.

But I do admit, this game looks no where near as good as it was shown to be. BUT I don't mind too much. ^^ I'm still learning the levels and I got lost and confused sometimes... but I like the game!

They need to work on it. I've only seen this in GoW2 and maybe the beta but it only happened for a little while and while the map was loading.

Hell, I wish my textures looked even half that good on the xbox. Consider yourself lucky. But yeah I do agree with you.. upgraded textures would be nice.. But I just wish mine would load before I get there and watch it go from blob to blur to final object.. That's pretty pathetic imo..
