BRINK players hate COD?

One of the reasons is Brink is like the Anti-Call Of Duty shooter. How the mechanics work and the emphasis on teamwork. And it is obvious that COD fans have responded to Brink with derision. Go on the xbox forums and you will see tons of gamers with mostly COD in their recent played list hating on Brink saying its the worst game ever without really playing it. God forbid a FPS tries to be different from COD. COD is the new Madden. Supporting a game like Brink can only be a positive for games in general. The game industry is trying to emulate COD too much otherwise as if it is the Bible of how games should be. I personally do not enjoy playing COD online. I say Brink is the anti-COD because it focuses on teamplay, rewards teamplay over any other aspect especially k/d and killstreaks. I tried to play CODMW online, and just did not enjoy getting shot by my own team with rockets as soon as I spawned, or blown up by a guy I just killed because he automatically drops a grenade. That's fun? Or killed by a guy from across the map by a pistol that I downed? Thank god somebody finally made a game that pretty much tries to do something other than what COD does. I am not trying to imply that Brink is better than COD. COD is one of the most popular games out there for a reason. But it is also very mainstream and a downside of that popularity, is that so many other devs feel pressured to do things the Call of Duty way. Or add Zombie mode. Brink feels like an old school game that focuses on a story and a context to the versus mode. Each side has a unique set of objectives and reason for the conflict. I've seen so many bad reviews online saying that Brink doesn't have a clear story, when it seems very clear to me. Many people came into Brink believing that it was another COD game. If you watch any review by prominent game reviewers, they all mention and compare Brink to COD. Right there you are already ruining any chance of enjoying Brink. Its like comparing a RTS game and wishing it had more COD features. Brink will be the game played by a niche group of gamers who get it. I am not worried about the COD fans getting upset that Brink players tell them to go play COD. It is what they should do. Brink is on 3 platforms and is a word-of-mouth game. It will quietly sell enough units to get more Brink games. You will see. Don't worry.

I thought there was animosity toward COD was because of the ho-hum reviewers constantly stating that Brink is trying to change the FPS genre from the COD formula. I think just by mentioning another game in a review is bad idea and it automatically compares the two even if they are polar opposites.

Thats right! Tooooo many BRINK players are hating on COD!

How are you suppossed to grow BRINK'S community if you keep dissing COD?? They make up a large majority of FPS players, and at the end of the day BRINK is a FPS right??

Lets encourage players to cross over to BRINK, and let the game develop into its potential with a larger community.

There is a ton of stuff that is similar to COD or what a COD player would expect in a FPS, all except frag stats... for now.

Let's not pit CoD players against Brink players or vise versa.

I think both are good games and so do many others. But here we talk about CoD in Community Discussion and we talk about Brink in this section. ;)
