Brink PS3 crashes

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 11:12 am

Im haveing realy fun playing brink online with my friends, but the problem is my PS3 crashes realy bad after a short while, maybe 5-10 minutes.
I have got another copy of Brink from the store because first it seamed to be a problem with the disc, but after trying a new one it seams this is not the case.
What happens is that when i play online, and only online, I get bugs like screen freeze, and i have to power of my PS3. When I power on again it cant find the brink disc, and i have to restart the system a coupe of times to get it to work. After that I can play another 5-10 minutes before another crash.
This only occur while playing Brink, all my other games works flawless.

Please help!

Idk what to say, however i myself have had problems on the PS3 version of Brink recently when playing online. I don't crash, but when i play online my guy will keep teleporing somewhere else or the screen will briefly freeze before i can move again. Other times the server will completely transfer me to another match. I think a good solution to the P2P online play is to offer a "best quality option" so that people with good internet connections can play with each other and this can avoid some of these online complications we've been experiencing.

Hate to scare you, but it sounds like it might be your blu ray lens. Was having trouble with mine (not on this game) while playing a new game yet older games were working fine.

One week later the laser was officially dead.

Maybe check the lens for dust?

Hm yeah that could be it, should I just buy a standard blueraydisc clearner-cd or something? What can I do and how do i check the lens for dust?

I completely fried mine before I had a chance. 120 american dollars to replace it with parts and labor included.

As for just cleaning it, there are several videos on youtube that show you the steps with text explanations on products used and how to use them.

Opening the PS3 does void the automatic one year warranty with Sony though. Just something to think about.

Also worth making sure it's got space around it, and if possible, is standing upright - gets better airflow, which reduces overheating. That's the only cause for freezing on my PS3.
