Brink to be rated T For Teenagers?

Post » Mon Aug 30, 2010 7:14 am

Both of these quotes is when he uses biotics, not just taunting the enemy while shooting at them or being angry at them. And I think it's "Gravity's a mean mother huh?!"

Biotics or guns, it does'nt matter, he still sounds a bit too kind in a firefight, where people are dying :P

Yeah I generally go to 2old2play to find other people to play with because I don't want to play with a bunch of kids that cuss and whine all the time.

Ever played with an 8-year old saying the f-word every time he opens his mouth? :P And when it's quiet, uses it as a word to break the ice? :l

I find that both kids and advlts are very annoying online. Then again, I get annoyed easily...which is why I stick to playing with friends.

Most people who don't nerd rage constantly online are fine. It's just the ones that do....

From my experience little kids all sound like they're sick and curse you out when you make fun of them. Teenagers are chill until people bother them then they go ape[censored] on them, and advlts go ape[censored] whenever you they die/you die/you take their kill.

It varies a lot. To me one of the most important things I ever learned in gaming is to stay calm and start every game with a certain level of respect for your allies and enemies. If you're a player who can refrain from nerd raging or at least keep it inside it will help your squad out a lot. Thanks bam420man. :-)

As an advlt, I find that most other advlts try too hard to fit in sometimes and it leads them to sound pathetic. Of course not every single one of them is like that but it does happen. All of that is easily avoidable though...you just gotta turn off your mic. I don't use mine unless i'm playing with friends. However, in a team based game like BRINK, communication is key.

Only game I really ever used mic was shadowrun. Telling teammates where ball carrier is, where enemy is, etc. Though I also used it on halo and gta iv, but only with friends really.

I own two mics. Tried to use one in Battlefield 2142, gave up. Didn't even bother with the other. No online friends with the same games as me you see.

That said, I hope I run into a few of you playing Brink. I'd use my mic then.

Back OT, I'm actually a teenager between the ages of say... 12 and 20. I suppose I'm fairly mature for my age in comparison to some others I know, but my nerd-raging is done entirely internally. The rating for Brink doesn't effect me either way, but I'm glad to see a dev-team aiming for something other than advlts-only.

To paraphrase something I heard on a L4D forum, "If you find a griefer, simply kick them and get on with the game." If you find someone F-bombing you through the mic, simply mute them. I routinely mute everyone in games of Black Ops, simply because they're mostly 9-year-olds calling you [censored] and [censored] and teabagging your body.

From my experience, kids are annoying in a general way (online; no offense).
But advlts manage to turn into online-kids and become annoying in the exact same way! (With less squeaky voices, but the same words and wording.)

Well with all the slang in the game I am sure to slip in some insults.

Kids I can deal with. I usually just troll them back if they're being annoying. Either they clam up and leave or start crying, which happened to me a couple of times.

advlts on the other hand are a bit more difficult to deal with. Usually your only option is to mute them.

If you can get T rating by having characters curse in different languages, can have characters curse in their native language such as a character with a german accent can curse in german, since people generally start talking in native language when they get pissed off.

younger players will play it anyways regardless if it's rated M or not. I mean COD gamer are rated M, and does that stop little annoying kids from playing it??

If you want to play this game with mature players and a small amount of little kids, you will have to play on the PC version, which will be the superior version anyways!

Then again, you don't need to use dirty words to be offensive.

Case in point: Just about every dead author you studied in high school.

Nein!

Sounds like a good idea in general. But it seems a good number of the accents (there are eight in total, iirc) are originally English (American, British, Jamaican[?]). So those would curse in English anyway.

That would be neat.

Well each nationality has their own unique euphemisms for stuff. British guys could use slang like "[censored]" and "bloody" and "sod."

Jamaicans have a very colorful way of cursing as well, if you can understand them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlSVKngMo44

Dangit...I was hoping it would be AO so pc only.

Theirs not even that much blood in the videos so I don't think it will be M let alone AO.

Shakespeare. All that apparent sophistication, but half of it was just insults and dirty jokes.

Rated M would be fine in my opinion. Because so we can expect some bad language (what this game needs!) and the shown bloodeffects (at some screenshots) stay in. Additional gore or dismeberment is not needed - but would be great. Finally Brink should not so prudish like BFBC2, but a little of them would be okay. :)
