brink sequel

I personally would make a prequel on how the arc first got separated, maybe theres a hidden story about how the arc got separated from the rest of the world, and if there isnt the devs could definitely make one.

I haven't really been following the game, but I thought they said the world got flooded?

So...they're gonna make a prequel about the earth getting floodedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXO2hsv2SlE

I don't have any knowledge about how the arc got separated but it is certain they have lost connection and at one time the arc was the center of commerce before 2045 and is suppose to have sustainable resources so that may mean they knew there was a disaster coming.

wasnt the center of commerce. It was a 5 star eco resort for billionares. thats why it didnt originally have contact, because it was a getaway for gazillionares. Once the world basicly ended, everyone set out to find it since everywhere else was flooded.

If there is a sequel the developers will definitely make a distinct third group not just trade places, assuming that you win in campaign whichever side you choose the story can only continue with a third group, a series of Brinks staying in stalemate forever with updated graphics and abilities would be cool but get boring.

I personally would make a prequel on how the arc first got separated, maybe theres a hidden story about how the arc got separated from the rest of the world, and if there isnt the devs could definitely make one.

i'd expect the factions as we know them to dissapear, and it'd be more of:
people on the ark vs who knows what?

Well, if its anything like Waterworld there is still land out there. I suspect that the sequel will be on the top of Mt. Everest

what about a prequel, where the rising sea levels most of the land is under water, but [insert mountain range here] isn't, however there is less and less space as the months go on. The people who were once united are finding it harder and harder to live as resources dip lower. A group is convinced the water will continue to rise until the entire mountain range is submerged and wishes to use the remaining resources to sail off into the ocean and hope to hit the Ark while drifting. Others think the oceans are beginning to stop rising and they should start using the resouces to support the makeshift city on the top of the mountains and build enough renewable resources to support the colony. Both groups need the resources but neither is willing to give it away. A group could end up escaping on boats, taking precious resources with them and finding the Ark, while the remaining people use the small amount of resources to fashion a small city, which allows them to survive but barely.

Iono, maybe have the ark crash into this place and then a war would break out again?

and on the whole stalemate thing, noone would ultimately win any way, if security wins, the guests would continue to suffer and the resistance would persist, though not as violently another uprising is inevitable. If Resistance wins, they would probably find that there weren't enough resources to begin with and that even though they distribute all the water equally, no one notices an extra mouthful of water and they see them in the same light as the security.

...

that or aliens, aliens = sequels

This sounds great. Just think of it. The Resistance win over the Security, and start following their goals. But they realise the point of view of the Security (Andrew Ryanishy "are they really the bad guys?") and start to understand the full magnitude of the situation. They realise they were wrong, and willingly turn themselves into the people they once thought to be monsters. But, now it is with connections to the outside world, fighting off people from coming to the Ark due to overpopulation. Or maybe something on the outside world went horribly wrong and a deadly virus had mutated or zombified the outside world, making people all try and eliminate the enemy. There are so many feasible storylines, it's a [censored] goldmine! but the game hasn't come out yet :( so all we can do is speculate

There will probably be no sequl if you get to play through the ark, because there is no possible way to expand this.

There could be more areas of conflict than just the Arc after all, the earth just got flooded so we might see some new settings

I would like to see that after you complete both campaigns its revealed that some third group has been manipulating the groups from behind the scenes. These would be the enemies in the sequel.

i doubt it, a big part of what I like about brink is the good v good scenario. Its not the traditional, allies v axis or us v terrorists or humans v aliens. Both sides are good. If Brink had a deep meaning at all it would be that 'good' is a relative term. A background manipulator would just be evil, no matter what spin u put to it, a group manipulating the 2 factions into killing each other is hardly justifiable.

That can be described in a cutscene. And you jump in the day hell breaks loose.

It's a bit early to be talking about a sequel but if BRINK does have a cliff hanger ending (not sure how that would happen) I guess another awesome game wouldn't hurt.

so assuming that ark doesn't survive the war or the creators want to leave the ark for some reason, where do u think they would go? maybe they could go to like a flying city where the resistance type guys are forced to live by the generators whereas the security type guys live in the actual city. thoughts?

also, what types of maps do you think could be in a floating city?

I think IF there is a sequel it should take place after flood waters have receded...assuming the waters can and will recede. I have no idea how this game ends, i guess it all depends on your own fight however whoever "wins" control i think it would be neat if they found another group of survivors on land who have already established a "government" and those in power oppose armed "outsiders" or something along those lines.

Ok, Brink sequel. Needs a third and maybe even a fourth faction. How about the Ark happens across a small island, an island that has big cities but also plenty of nature still intact. Let's say the island used to be part of Hawaii, or somewhere in the Caribbean. Then lets say that the discovery of the island brought relative peace, for a short while, at least. Then the people split into factions once more. Overcrowding soon becomes a problem once again, and...

That's all I got so far.

A sequel would not need any extra factions. In fact, adding a third or fourth faction, would take away from the intimacy that players have for the 2 factions now, and make everything much more generic.

Some things that would be expected in a sequel:

New abilities
New weapons
New maps
Updated AI
Able to import Brink 1 characters
New customization options
New weapon attachments
Female characters
New SMART maneuvers
Splitscreen
Possibly new classes
Possibly graphics upgrade (maybe use idTech5)

Some other neat things like:

- The ability to "specialize" characters. When you specialize a character, you choose 1 class for him to be, and he can only play that class - he can never swap classes. In return, he gains access to exceptional class abilities, and gains passive abilities relevant to his class, that are always active.
- Maybe introduce an attribute system, so you can tweak your body type the way you want or maybe even get rid of body types, and use attributes to determine everything.

I like all of those ideas. And you're right about not needing more factions, although I do think that if they made a sequel they could...expand the factions a bit. "And the war between the Security and the Resistance rages on." could get old. Something needs to happen. Some circumstances need to change. It should be the next chapter in the story, not the same chapter told again with more words (words being features).

EDIT: Of course, now that I think about it, I don't see why we're discussing a sequel when nobody knows how the story in Brink will actually unfold.

hmmm... I guess you could have the Ark crash into a land mass, Tibet maybe? The land mass is home to many refugees, what was once a series of remote villages and monasteries are now developed into large settlements and connected by make shift bridges. The arrival of the Ark was a huge surprise, though whether it was pleasant is debatable. The Ark once again establishes connection with humanity. The majority of Arkers (made up word here but what are they supposed to be called?) wish to take this chance to repair and rebuild the damaged Ark into the sustainable floating city it once was using the resources available to in the mountains. Upon completing these repairs they would once again set sail, remaining in contact with the land mass, in hopes of finding other land masses for remnants of humanity and/or resources. The majority of the Landdwellers want to take the Ark apart, and using its advanced technology to improve the settlements so that the settlements can run more sustainablly. They argue that the rest of the world is almost certainly underwater (Tibet being the highest place in the world, if i'm not mistaken) and don't want to give precious resources to the Ark for what seems like a wild goose chase. The Arkers believe that the seismic activity (they are scientists after all) during the flooding could very well have raised aother landmasses higher than even mt everest (i watched 2012, sue me), and that the Ark can be used as a medium to unite the rest of humanity. Of course neither are willing to back down which results to extremists emerging as the months drag on. While officially the two sides are still in the middle of a diplomatic solution, civil war is begining to emerge over the horizon of the endless ocean...

I would love to have a map where the Ark crashes, leaving shards of steel to penetrate the mountain side. Or an old Tibetan monestry which has been partially modified into a generator supplying power to one of the biggest settlements on the land mass. Or a system of caves which have been developed into a shanty town.

and horse you are right about that, but this thread is more about what would happen in the story of the sequel, rather than gameplay. of course we all hope all those you mentioned would be included in the future, whether as expansion, DLC or a sequel.

Can't you somewhat do that with the credits you use to purchase abilities? You buy abilities and you choose what to put them in?
