brink sequel

Post » Tue Jan 12, 2010 4:15 am

so assuming that ark doesn't survive the war or the creators want to leave the ark for some reason, where do u think they would go? maybe they could go to like a flying city where the resistance type guys are forced to live by the generators whereas the security type guys live in the actual city. thoughts?

also, what types of maps do you think could be in a floating city?

first off: i dont think there will be a sequel, and if there is (which i hope there will be) then its waaaaay to early to discuss it now. the games not even out yet.

Anyway, on to your topic: i do think a flying city would be cool, it would be like the archipelago maps on Warhawk, where there are small islands connected to each other by bridges and cliffs.

It would more then likely take place on the Ark. But I think Brink is going to be one of those games thats like borderlands in a way. DLC could add storyline to it instead of buying a whole new game. Sorda like what fallout 3 did.

yeah, thats true too...But how long will DLC hold over fans who want a new game? two levels doesnt make up for a whole new storyline. and i have a feeling this games gonna be really popular, so people wiill pick up on it fast (sorta like the first Uncharted i hope)

I see no problem with speaking of it now. These are forums to discuss Brink and this is about Brink.
@Jordanman: There are multiple ways of keeping fans entertained via DLC. If wolfenstein is still played a LOT today, then Brink will be played for awhile too. Not to mention how long it would last WITH downloadable content.

If anything the company will make a new game, using the style of brink( with improvements if they can) and build a new style of game.

How can you discuss a sequal to Brink though when the first game isnt even out yet and you dont even know what happens in its campaign. You cant discuss something like that when you dont even have alot of information on the first one there is still alot in the dark for Brink.

This.

There's no point in speculating about where the sequel is gonna take place, if they even make one, before the first game is even out yet.

I find it an interesting topic to discuss. We are discussing the idea of a sequel, which seems fine in my book. Is there a point? Not at all. But I think its interesting to speculate what a sequel game may be like.

And what would we call this game Brink: Infinite. Water-based utopia that falls apart with a sequel taking place in the sky, sound a lot like the direction Bioshock is taking, just saying. :whistling:

Im pretty sure thats where he got the idea :P But I honestly cant see a Brink 2. Just Brink DLC that expands the game is all I can really see.

i dont think there will be a sequel.
the way the story line is going (the limited amount of it we know) it doesnt seem like there will be a sequel...

If Splash Damage can continue pumping out DLC's to keep the game play fresh for us players then I don't want a sequel. I haven't played other Splash Damage games unfortunately but I have a feeling they entertain their player base quite well.

HAHAHAHAH Yea this is maybe a bit too early to discuss this topic.

BUT... if there is to be one, I would like it to be in a jungle type area. This way there are many opportunities to use the SMART system as there will be many trees and various random plants etc. Would also create an interesting environment :D

I would like to see something like when you were searching for the arc either when it got lost or being on the mainland fighting for your survival and trying to get to the ark in the first place, maby the enemies could be a private security company or a big company trying to gain land after the failure of society and law. Which in my eyes seems like a realy good idea, i have allot of good ideas for games xD.

Well we know the resistance want to use the arks remaining resources to find other people in the world, so the sequal could be they find others in wrecked citys or jungles where the people are in a much worse condition than the resistance, the resistance having won the 1st brink will now be security as they have access to everything the security did (but with more style ;p) and want to defend the ark and stock up on resources from whats left of the mainland, so one mission is defend the ark from attack and another could be raid a wrecked city's last supplys. Anywho thats my first thought on this pointless subject :D

Solar power with some kind of batteries. Don't forget, the timesetting of a sequel would be after 2045.
Would be a good scenario though. Another ark, which floats in the air and which was constructed after the original ark.

It doesn't really seem very resistance to me. I mean at the moment they are fighting for EQUAL distribution of resources so why would they then be Uber hypocritical and go steal someone else's?...but then again they are humans...

I dont think the ark would be destroyed, I imagine that if the resistance win then the sequel will be about the Security or some other outside force coming in to retake/take the ark for themselves, or if the security win the resistance eventually rises again someday, but seeing how the campaign is dependent upon what you do I have no idea how it would work so i dont really see a sequel at all. and shouldnt we let the first one come out before we talk about this? :)

If there is a sequel the developers will definitely make a distinct third group not just trade places, assuming that you win in campaign whichever side you choose the story can only continue with a third group, a series of Brinks staying in stalemate forever with updated graphics and abilities would be cool but get boring.

I personally would make a prequel on how the arc first got separated, maybe theres a hidden story about how the arc got separated from the rest of the world, and if there isnt the devs could definitely make one.
