Brink Sequels...

Post » Fri Jul 23, 2010 2:39 pm

Assuming that this game hits the stores and is bought out across the world and is loved by everyone and SD decides to make a sequel, how do you think it will be? I'm worried that it will turn into another COD if it gets too large of an audience, and it becomes forced to cater to the masses. That said, it will have been their well-considered, slightly alternative approach (but very much correct) to gaming that generated this large audience in the first place, so they might just stick to their own ideas and not give in to the popular demand for TDM and whatnot.

Anyway, how do you think Brink will evolve and change if they were ever to make a sequel, and what would you like to see added in a sequel?

I'd personally like to see a large use of the 4th console generation's power in form of larger maps, MANY more players and other sweet features like split-screen and perhaps even vehicles.

Peace,
Mem

All I can say is that if SD is Smart, they will take their sweet time with a sequel, and not make annual release like CoD. But considering they took a year to balance Brink, I don't think they will do so.

Brink should not have a sequel, ever. Just keep it updated for years.

Isn't this type of speculation kinda premature. I mean, it was/is hard enough speculating about a game right around the corner without considering the sequel in the future.

But for the sake of argument, I would have to assume the sequel would not be on the Ark. The resistance will find out that others are rebuilding society and it will be the ARK people versus mutated zombies that have been born from radiation because Humans will now be on the Brink of Extinction

The game pretty much screams sequel, nowadays even average games get sequels a year and a half later. For a new IP to create this type of buzz is pretty amazing, they did a great job marketing it.

First of all, the game isn't even out yet and you're already discussing a sequel? Do you just hate getting your money's worth of a game or what?

Secondly, SD has made many games before in case you aren't aware and although they have changed it up a bit by making Brink more accessible to the consoles compared to previous games, they wouldn't just abandon their general game style just to board the easy cruising to sales COD ship. They even ridicule COD inside of Brink.

This is a classic case of counting you're chickens before they hatch.

Assuming the game turns out well, I hope they continue to support THIS game for years instead of rushing out and saying "Ooooh Brink 2 will be coming next year!"

Give it at least a couple of years, and KEEP SUPPORT IT WHEN THE SEQUEL COMES.

And make the sequel different enough to feel distinct, so as to encourage players to swap between them.

I say pull a MAG on us - make a sequel with 256 players and MASSIVE battlefields.

Brink can be the small-scale team-based shooter, then Brink 2 will be a large-scale war across vast open spaces. Possibly with the entire Ark as a single map.

That's what keeps the TF2 community thriving and populous. I love this idea.

If they do plan on making a sequel I completely agree, keep making a proper game, more time means a better game overall.
Mind you looking at the storyline here, I would think the next title would be somewhere else, like possibly with the rest of the civilization.

This.

If SD ever does move on, I ask for the same thing: don't pull a mainstream move and abandon the faithful. Keep the servers going. So that when people want to know the glory of the original BRINK, they can taste it and see just how well it's aged.
