BRINK PC Suggestions (devs please read)

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:31 pm

In order for BRINK PC to succeed in sales after/before release, these standard multiplayer features must be implemented for the PC version:

*Spectator mode - ability to spectate a player ingame. (useful for cheating prevention)

*Demo recorder - ability to record a player or themselves ingame. (This can be server-side or client-side your choice for what's best)

*Kick-Player / Kick-Ban Player - ability to kick players or ban players. (This can be ingame feature or Third-Party tool)

*Standard Server Admin abilities - change map, game-mode etc.

*Mod Tools - This is needed for competitive gaming.

*Dedicated Server Files - Needed for us to host servers.

*Server Browser - favourite server etc.

Yeah, but if they aren't in it now, that pushes it back months.

However, Splash Dmage is a primarily PC company, so I'd imagine all of them are in already.

I've made a thread recently about Splash Damage PC history so am not worried.

I'm just making sure because without proper PC support the game will fail in 1week.

Not necessariliy. Console versions would still thrive enough to make up for the losses, and Splash Damage could easily patch the PC version that way.

Knowing how these guys operate, you will most likely see all of these things at launch. Or most of them.
Brink will be using dedicated, so all of the basic properties of the usual dedicated servers should be there.

Now for a few of them, lets discuss since I am a PC guy:

Spectator Mode - I would definitely want this. Its always been an extremely useful feature in my past experience.
One thing, however, is the idea of a Kill Cam. Do not want. One simple reason would be the fact that it can ruin any chance of forming strategic routs.
I say this because of what happened with CSS. If you don't know what I mean, please look it up. I could talk all day about it.
I would simply like an out of game spectator team(mode), not one that can be used to cheat. You should be forced to wait to join a team should you try and switch back and forth.

Demo Recorder - Now, something I hardly ever do..... I'll say something good about Black Ops.
Okay so for CODBO, one thing I really liked about the game was its demo recorder, even though it was filled with random saves.
Theres plenty of ways to expand/retract this idea in a way that it would work perfectly with forced recordings. (for example: /startdemo in console or what ever it was for CS)

Mod Tools - Simply put, as you said, we need this. Need. Especially for competitive gaming. I'm assuming this is already in, and because of it, theres already people starting
websites/expanding current websites to accommodate said gaming. There is a #TWL_Brink channel already, and I idle it.

It could be too late for them to patch it. BRINK is the first multi-platform game they developed so you can't really blame me if I try to remind them the important features. Anyways I know Splash Damage have good reputation so am hoping BRINK will turn out to be a real PC game.

btw BRINK was delayed 1 or 2 times so I hope the PC version benefited from it.

Why do you post here when you know that Bethesda is not the developer?

Every game should have a Theatre/Cinema mode, these days. As a compliment to the large Machinima-Community.

GTA IV has a really good one and the results are astonishing!

So the OP thinks that professional game developers need to be "reminded" how to develop a game?

As to a kill cam....since you can still look around while incapacitated, wouldn't that be less tactical and thus not a desired feature for a team based game?

Sadly I'm not. I just couldn't say anything else without risking the ban hammer :shocking:

Tell you the truth You Guys can do what you want to BRiNK (Since you have the qualifications needed to develop games and I don't I'll admit) ... I'll still buy and enjoy it

But do not I say again DO NOT give it Console Commands as I know how to use console commands and It gives the guys that know commands the upper hand (Yes it does "Set_SndOcculation 0" makes a difference I Know)
PS. This means no Config File either ... It has to be a hidden encrypted file

As for BRiNK ever being Delayed The game never had a Confirmed Release date before now
