Flame, flame flame, right thats the flames out the way (see what i did there?)

Brink is its own game, although it does share some similarities with many other shooters. (but then thats kinda hard not to do these days)

Cwutididthar?

Also, it's own game. Not like that's nearly as important as my brilliant joke with the flame-thrower face, right? Right?

Right.

Actually if anything its simply an extension of SD's previous games. Right :flamethrower:

Let's go over the features it has:
  • Mingleplayer (combined single player, co-op, and competitive multiplayer)
  • Objective-based XP reward system
  • SMART
  • Full drop-in/drop-out support with intelligent and skilled AI fill-in players

It is the End of the Genre as We Know It.

By definition, it is its own game.

I voted own game. If I had to pick influences, Brink is Call of Duty, mixed with elements of Bad Company, infused with Assassin's Creed, splattered with a layer of gritty from Killzone, and with some flavor from the Pixar movie WALL-E.

You forgot Mirrors Edge. If anything it's more Mirrors Edge than Assassin's Creed.

Either or. Mirror's Edge offers a more acrobatic style gameplay compared to Assassin's Creed, but the AC series is more automated with its parkour, similar to the SMART button.

That's true that AC is, it's more of a mix of both. Since AC's free running (I wouldn't call it Parkour) is basically just climbing, jumping, and balancing.

honestly i always viewed it this way

Free Running: all about flare and showmanship

Parkour: efficiently getting through an area the fastest way possible with less energy used

so its a mix of both MirrE and AC more fluid but more ability with the enviroment

and were forgetting borderlands lol not sure why i needed to say that

You didn't get the difference 100% spot on, but it does show the basic difference.
I don't know why people say Borderlands, it looks nothing like it imo.

i say borderlands for the colors used....not for the style but that borderlands color was amazing it POPPED

brink will be vibrant and ya need to represent color coming into play instead of being all grey and white and green mostly (half the CoD maps i remember)

I would say Borderlands had a little brighter colors, not like Brink. Brink has bright colors, but they're "Worn out" colors I guess you could say. They have a greyish tone which makes the map look more war torn.

What exactly is the difference between Halo and Killzone apart from colour palette?

I think Halo has more of an arcady feel to it. Never played Killzone though, but my friend says that it has objectives and classes. So that makes it even bigger of a difference I guess.

If you speak of influences, you should mention Team Fortress (2). Brink is basically a team-based FPS, with some other cool features.

It isn't a mix of other games (certainly not the mix of the games mentioned in the poll), It is its own game.

Team Fortress 2 + Bad Company 2, if I had to choose from games that are already released. I think it'll be strong enough to be considered it's own sort of game though. The multiplayer/campaign meld helps it along a lot.

I read in a hands-on preview that Splash Damage effectively described it as Enemy Territory 3. Not a bad thing at all if you ask me - I got a lot of fun out of Quake Wars.
