Brink Wishlist

1. For snipers to be used more like snipers than CODS stupid idea of a Sniper.

There are no snipers, only Light rifles. For the discussion about this, you should check these 2 topics:
http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1112897-best-sniper-class/
http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1157370-snipers/

2. For a Roll landing to standing position to be added to large falls as Sliding seems [censored] and unlikely if landed vertically.

While rolling is more realistic and seems more logical, they intentionally did not include rolling to avoid "motion sickness" and to be able to shoot at all times.

3. Good voice comms in game for massive co-ordination.

VOIP is available, an AI Squad commander announces the most important things. (F.e. Bomb planted at the gate) and there's probably some form of quickchat like ET:QW or W:ET.

4. Options to move the HUD around.

I'm not sure if you can move it around, but you can probably turn it off for most part. (Atleast on PC) They were experimenting with different things like turning of HUD elements when they're not used for a while. I think they did not opt for this after testing, but they're open minded when it comes to things like this.

5. Changing in shape of cloths not just colour and templates. Like length of sleeves and buttoned or unbuttoned.

You can do pretty cool Stuff with the customization. Revoluzzer has a link to a picture of a customised mask. http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/2193/im26.jpg

6. Multi-player to be some sort of insignificant battle in the story so you dont feel you are just replaying the story over and over.

Since you can play the maps in a random order, I wouldn't worry about it.

I want a push to talk option for voice comms if its not already there, if its not there there tends to be a lot of background sound and some people yell after dieing which is really annoying.

I dont mean complaining about a useless team. I meant yelling about how your death was because of lag or that the guy you were shooting at should have died. It blocks out other people that are saying things that are actually important.

you gotta think that lets say im on a role! no deaths, 24 kills. teh game starts to lag. run behind a guy and start shooting all of my ammo at him. teh lag makes him move around. the game stops lagging and he turns and kills me. i scream alot when this happens or if just a noob fest.

I'm not saying you shouldn't yell at that situation. Im saying its annoying having people yelling into their mic while others attempt to say constructive things. I'm not saying stop yelling all together, I'm saying there should be an "enable push to talk" option so that you can set a key to talk. you can still yell as much as you like, though if you dont press your push to talk button the other people wont have to be drowned out. If you dont like the idea of a push to talk button dont enable it, its that simple. I'm just saying it would be a good option for people to have.

I want flamethrowers. and for engineers to have a flamethrower-turret.

why? because killing people with fire is always more awesome and amusing than merely killing them with bullets.

Some references to Nationalism, things like all kinds of voices (Yeah, I know there are different voice sets). But things like Ushanka hats, turbans, berets, doo-rags, toomuchtf2
Also with so much focus on customization, I'd REALLY like to see a TF2 style naming/describing guns thing.

-Boom-boxes throughout some levels that play music.

-A heavily-accented Russian voice

-The ability to hang from pipes and stuff a la Splinter Cell

Also, here;s something Bioshock did with multiplayer (which I guess they may have gotten from the Hitman games now that I think about it) that was kind of useless but still pretty cool. See, when you started up multiplayer, the game put you in a little apartment in Rapture. You could move around and interact with things like a weapons chest which would let you customize your loadout or the wardrobe to customize your character. When you were ready to play you went to the biosphere in your little apartment, selected which gametype you wanted to play, and off you went. A lot more interesting then navigating menus.

For Brink they could put you into a little apartment on the Ark, a rust one that looks like the Megaton house in Fallout 3, and something more modern for Security. it could have a little wardrobe to customize your character/s, an armory to customize your weapon, and maybe even a little gun range to test your weapons. Then when you were ready, you could go to a door or elevator or something like that and jump into a game. Like I said, kind of useless, but it's a lot more interesting then going through menus.

A very, very, deep voice, kind of scary sounding. Like the Lich King.

To match my own obviously. Ive sounded like Barry White since 9th grade.

yes to the russian voice, need a german voice, aussie voice and a jamacan voice, o and a vin diseal voice, also just to be accurate you changed your loadout at a Gene-Bank in bioshock 2, the weapon box was just for show and was the "sinclair solutions starting kit" :)

EDIT: o and a irish voice!

Note: if you take this seriously, you're doing it wrong.

This wishlist is supposed to be for "unreasonable" wishes, thus I want:

People to die after they stop moving.
People to die when they run into walls.
Unlimited ammo.
Black hole grenades.
Halo jumping.

That being said, I'm still stoked about this game, even though none of these are coming true without modding.

Black hole grenades.

ala n-64 perfect dark n-bombs i assume. those were always fun and amusing to have.

would much rather have flamethrowers myself. was pretty much the only thing perfect dark was missing.... they needed a flamethrower.

A common misconception about black holes is that they are giant vacuums, but a black hole only has the gravitational pull of the mass in its singularity, for a black hole grenade to do anything, it would have to weigh about as much as a mountain.

Edit:

The whole thing just reminded me of the large hadron collider "micro black holes" scare. Even if a micro black hole was created, it wouldnt do anything. It would have the gravitational attraction of a single atom, and would exist at a single point in space. In order for it to absorb an atom, it would have to be right on top the the nucleus, something that would be very rare, considering that the nucleus in an atom is like a golfball at the center of a football stadium. Even then, it would have the gravitational attraction of two atoms...which is basically the same value (0 for all practical uses). If it did that 7.5 trillion times, it would have the mass of a period made with a pencil, and would likely be sitting at the center of the earth, still doing nothing.

If the micro black hole could fall and hit a "golfball in a stadium" once every second, it would take it over 30,000 years to get to even 1 trillion atoms.

Not to mention it would pretty much destroy the world within seconds, if you wanted to be that literal about it, so there'd be no point in just tossing one to take a couple of guys out. It'd be a doomsday device.

Here are some items some members of the competitive community came up with as an FPS Manifesto for FPS games last year of must haves and nice to haves.
http://www.fragworld.org/frag/news/opinion-editorials/first-person-shooter-manifesto.html

The First Person Shooter Community FPS Manifesto

These are the ESSENTIAL things we HAVE to have in a FPS Shooter

Dedicated Servers - for performance and countless other reasons. Co-op game modes and games should also have dedicated servers
Mod Tools - This will save you development costs by giving your customers new content and no cost to you and give you great ideas for the next version of your game. Whatever you can't put in the game we can put it in for you. Just give us the tools please.
As much server side control and options available (the ability to control maps, gametypes, weapons, special abilities, filter language, kick hackers etc). For private matches in particular it is important to have features either built into the game or via 3rd party mods to ensure a level playing field for all players and the ability to create different rulesets.
LAN Capability - So people at Lan Parties, Tournaments, College Dorms, Gaming Centers and their friends houses can enjoy face to face competition without requiring each PC to have internet capability
Stat Tracking - API, Log file or do it yourself we need to be able to see how we and others are doing.
A Capable Server Browser that shows all the options mentioned in #4 filterable by ping, server location, gametype, map and whose data can refresh in real time.
A Section in the Game's Official Forums for verified server owners so they may have constructive dialogue with each other and with the game developer.
In Game Recording - Machinima, Commentaries, Frag Videos, Tutorials, and other Video Broadcasting is free advertising and marketing of your game. It helps us run cheat free events the promote your product. Having a capable spectate mode also facilitates this as well.
Anti-Cheat - Definitely have a strong Anti-Cheat out of the box and work with the community and Anti Cheat Companies in staying up to date with the latest Anti-Cheating Methods such as the ability to force settings in private matches and detect adjustments to exe files
Allow Config files to be editable in game via console or interface
