Brink On Xbox 360 Gets Day One Patch

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:57 am

Will PS3 owners get to play online on day one? I may have to DL a day one patch, but then I will be online a few seconds later.

:celebration: Haha congratulations to you! :celebration:

Anyone remember back in the day when a game had to be "perfect" when it shipped?

I love how the article write-up says there's a number of serious issues, then quotes the guy clearly stating they've found a bunch of minor fixes that the game will benefit from.

Way to botch your exaggerations!

As a pessimist, I'm going to go with the notion of "where there's smoke there's fire." Just because they caught these doesn't mean there are others they missed. And ETQW wasn't a very solid console port, and this fact as well as this recent statement causes a bit of concern.

Hopefully I'm wrong, and Brink turns out just as solid on the Xbox as on the other platforms, since I don't have room in a dorm room for a PC or I'd get that version.

ETQW wasnt a solid port, mabye that has something to do with the fact that THEY didnt bloody port it..

As for the flamebait kiddies trying to start a console war, Diffrent consoles have diffrent things that will hickup, you shouldnt be to suprised if your ps3 has some bugs that are not present on xbox. ( And to be perfectly honest im amazed you are dumb enough to try start such a debate after the last 2 weeks )

If anything people should be happy that they are addresing these on day on, and day one patches are quite common FYI.

Also the issues brought up are minor.

Saying that ETQW "wasn't a solid port" is like saying http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khyZI3RK2lE was a mildly bad idea.

but that's the reason SD chose to do all 3 consoles in-house this time around, with little to no porting. You shouldn't be worried about a precedent another company set.

Agreed, they built each version from the ground up. After reading that a few months back I pre ordered.

Day one patches are good... They found a bug and fixing it before we can play the game... Whats the issue?

Day one patches don't really surprise me, as with most games testing goes on until after the release. Also do we know what Brink went 'Gold'?

A game has to reach Gold-status before it is shipped. Especially when we're talking "Games for Windows" approved games.

while a day 1 patch is good, this is what caught my eye :sadvaultboy: hopefully this patch will bring the 360 version in line with the others.

XBox gets the Patch on day 1.
PS3 one month later.
PC sometime in the not so near future.

:teehee: (No, that's actually not funny.)

Anyone remember back in the day when a game had to be "perfect" when it shipped?

Or when serious bugs where not patched at all ...

When I first read this I read it wrong... I thought it said One day patch, not day one patch.

And I don't see what the problem is, a lot of games do this, plus its not like the patch takes that long. Most are 2-10 seconds. Excluding my Gears 3 beta which took a half an hour (500mb patch)

From the Brink twitter about the patch

@Spaceboy_ca this automatic update primarily improves hard drive caching... no need to worry.

As a Skeptic, I say we shall wait to see. It is a good of them to catch this, and yes they may have missed something...But I would like to assume the vast majority is fine.

The did delay this game multiple times already.

again a little ironic that they moved up the release date and then are patching day one prior to release even.
we should hope for constant patching and game play balance (provided everything is not perfect already :)) tho, patches are not bad things. (well cept for beth soft sometimes i.e. the recent new vegas patch). Honestly, most console games do not get enough patches. bc2 has been patched a few times, but even still there are glaring errors, the devs and publishers just cease to care. I am switching from bc2 to brink and am looking forward to it provided it runs lag free, which is the most important thing in competitive online shooters and everyone forgets about it. The netcode is what makes for the long playability of a title. I was a bit disappointed when I heard no dedicated on consoles :(. not looking forward to the halo style host migration :/

still this game looks amazing, cant wait to play it, got a new special edition controller just for it :) (which btw the transform dpad kicks ass and the sticks feel amazing)

Every single game I've gotten on 360 has had a patch to download right away. Why is this one concerning people?

Someone asked me about this one Twitter... to let you know, you'll receive the update at launch. The update improves hard drive caching... no need to worry.

That's strange, I thought Brink had been designed for 360 and ported to the other consoles. Oh well, doesn't really matter considering we'll have the patch as soon as we start up the game.

So the visuals is what they should be? Becuase that is what the needed to patch, yes? (and the hard drive caching, which I guess helps the XBOX store your characters, loadouts and customization)

I wonder if the cacheing just had a glitch and caused those problems.
