Brink On Xbox 360 Gets Day One Patch

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:25 pm

The upcoming first person shooter Brink, from Bethesda Softworks and Splash Damage, will receive a day one patch on the Xbox 360 to fix a number of known issues.

While the game is supposed to be action packed and visually stunning without the day one patch, the Xbox 360 version might not have been equal with the other platforms.

The patch will address irregular visual glitches at distance including texture pop-up and solve a few small networking issues that have been discovered. Fortunately these problems have been found thus the day one patch will be automatically downloaded and installed.

Brink will be released on the 10th of May.

Where did you hear this?

I don't really mind it though , just download and be on my way, shouldn't be too much of a problem

Interesting. Ran a google search with "brink xbox patch" and the links seem to corroborate the story.

At least the devs won't wait for complaints to fix it. I applaud them for that.

Day one patches don't really surprise me, as with most games testing goes on until after the release. Also do we know what Brink went 'Gold'?

while a day 1 patch is good, this is what caught my eye :sadvaultboy: hopefully this patch will bring the 360 version in line with the others.

So.. This means the PS3 version is in better shape then the Xbox version? :teehee:

Good on all you Xbox users, at least there won't be a wave of complain threads release day. Well, at least not as many.

Every game I have ever gotten on release has had a patch on day1 - especially multiplayer focused games. No need to worry. It seems since there are no reviews out yet, the critics have no other reviews/news to obsess over, so they will report any little piece they can get.

Maybe they should have waited until the 17/19 after all.

Don't think 7 days would make much difference, depending on when the game went 'gold' and the date it was ment to go 'gold' with the 17th date, and as i said in an earlier post testing goes on right up until release, so we may have had a day one patch anyway.

As a pessimist, I'm going to go with the notion of "where there's smoke there's fire." Just because they caught these doesn't mean there are others they missed. And ETQW wasn't a very solid console port, and this fact as well as this recent statement causes a bit of concern.

Hopefully I'm wrong, and Brink turns out just as solid on the Xbox as on the other platforms, since I don't have room in a dorm room for a PC or I'd get that version.

Will PS3 owners get to play online on day one? I may have to DL a day one patch, but then I will be online a few seconds later.

Just means they are still testing and did not delay launch because of it. Fine by me either way.

Patch is only for Xbox, and that depends if PS Online is up by then.

I don't buy it.

A day one patch surely would've been stated by Bethesda/Splash Damage before some random website?

At least they caught it early. Plus they have the necvars to fix any issues that might come up.

Day on patches are so commonplace now they are nothing to be worried about.

I actually think they new of the issues, and expected them to be minor. They probably were the only ones left and on their way to being fixed. This is why Bethesda let it out early, knowing they could patch it day one.

lol Red Dead had a day one patch because an error made half the freeroams you went into full of invisable player,
you can test and debug a game for a decade and you still can't predict what will happen when it goes public and multiple
countries of varrying connection speeds all start playing together.

Im sure there are bugs that will arise, as in any new game. Also BRINK is not a port on either console, they built it from the ground up for each system. I wouldnt worry.

Heres the fire :flamethrower:
