Broken, Main Quest

In a never-ending quest to play the game it's been one issue after another. The frequent CTD and various minor glitches bring my game play to a crawl seemed to be finally under control when this hit.

The quest is "The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller". I go to the Ustengrav and eventually find myself presented with three magic stone, which are placed in front of a corridor containing three lowered gates. Move into close proximity of a stone causes a gate keyed to that stone to briefly rise and then fall. My first thought here was to run past the three stones and then use whirlwind dash to quickly clear the gates.

How ever in trying to do so, I find myself able to reach the threshold of the corridor before the any of the gates fall, only to run into an invisible wall. I tried this a few more time and got the same result. At first I did not think this was unintended at all. Considering all the invis walls bethesda uses to keep you out of areas you werent intended to go into, I assumed there was some other way to solve the puzzle and that this was their way of voiding any cheese. I tried a few more things and eventually broke down and went to look up the solution online which as it turns out is, running past the three stones and then use whirlwind dash to quickly clear the gates. >.<

Has anyone else had a problem like this?
What if anything can I do to continue the storyline?

The indended way worked for me; you might just try reloading an earlier save, as that has generally fixed any bugs I have experienced. However, if you're still stuck, you also could try the tcl (toggle collisions) console command, which lets you move through walls. Hit the ` key at the upper left of your keyboard to open the console, type (without quotes) "tcl" and hit enter, hit ` to close the console, move forward past the invisible wall, and then repeat to turn collision back on. I haven't tried this myself so don't know if it will work, but in theory it should. Note that it is important not to use tcl any more than you have to, as it can break quests. In this case it might be best to use it to move only past the first gate, at which point I believe there are chains you can pull to open the other gates. Good luck!

I had the same problem. You need to use whirlwind earlier than you'd think! Run past the stones, when you hear the 3rd one chime, that's when you hit the shout button.

Paingiver's suggestion actually worked, dispite early instints were I was able to move into the space below the gate and run indefinitly against an invis wall.
