Broken Steel add-on for Fallout 3 CD VERSION

Post » Tue Oct 22, 2013 12:45 pm

Hi There,

I am trying to get the Broken Steel add-on for Fallout 3, and I have the CD version of Fallout 3. Like so many things in life, this endeavour has become absurdly and unnecessarily (in my mind anyway) complicated. I have attempted to download the addon through the Microsoft Games Marketplace, only to be informed that they no longer sell the PC version (although they still sell the XBox version). I have tried to download the add-on through Steam, but this won't work either because Steam does not seem to recognize the game because I have a CD version of the game. I have tried finding other legimate download sites online to no avail.

I finally resorted to buying the expansion from Amazon.com on CD, which seems silly to me considering it's downloadable content but I did it anyway. After a month of waiting, due to a shipping mix-up on Amazon's part I did not receive the CD and now I'm basically out of luck. So I would appreciate it if someone could give me a half-way straightforward method of downloading this downloadable content, as it seems to be unnecessarily complicated at this point.

Most frustratedly yours,

Adam

I would say the best bet is to either wait for a sale for FO3 on Steam for the GOTY edition or to go to your local pc game store that still sells a good selection of pc games and see if you can get the FO3 GOTY edition. It might be cheaper at the pc game store store if they have a copy of it.

Microsoft shutting down the GFWL Store is the crux of the matter. As stated above the GOTY version goes on sale from time to time at Steam for an insane price.

In the mean time, contact Bethesda customer service at http://gamesas.com/en-us/contact as they may be able to assist you with Steam and getting them to recognize your game. I don't know, but this can't be the first time this has come up and it won't be the last. I will also ping GStaff on this and maybe he has a suggestion for you.

I will close this thread as we do have an active thread on this issue that you can post in for now.
