Broken Steel: New Vegas

Post » Sat Sep 25, 2010 8:09 am

I thought it was universally agreed that open world games should be playable after the end credits. I though that was why they released broken steel for FO3.

My question is this; will they release dlc like broken steel for NV?

It really svcks that I can't use my main playthrough, I never fully explored to Mojave.

I know making the game playable after the current end would probably require making several different wastelands for after the battle, but still.

Mr. Smiley's end dialoge saying that he was going offline and that he would be back soon is what made me wonder.

They've stated that they would not release a Broken Steel for New Vegas.
If there's anything you missed to do then reload to a save prior to the final quest and do what you missed.

This horse has been kicked many a time now but I say no. The ending as it is great, and I for one can't see a reason to continue after you finish the game. Roll up a new character, do different things instead.

An ending is an ending. Things end... and stuff. And besides, the amount of changes that would be needed to the settlements and all that would make it too big a task. And the worst thing would be to just have it half-assed.

You're probably right, however I think there should be one.

Whether or not it is plausible, I don't know. I guess it's just wishful thinking.

Thats the thing it will not make sense. Broken Steel Broke Fallout 3. The only way it can be done is to remove the endings or make four new Mojave wastelands to relect the changes made in the ending. There is also the many changes for all the smaller factions and companions. Way to much to account for to make play after the end.

I know you are new to the forum and welcome but its a dead horse. Devs said its not going to happen.

Just learn to save more.

I vote no. The way things are now, you could play nearly 75+ hours and never enter Vegas. Usually after I've taken care of Benny I don't visit Vegas much untill I'm ready to finish the main quest. About the only thing they could inprove is creating a few more good housing choices around the map other than what we have now. Extending the game past the Hoover Dam battle would require a massive DLC to account for everything that could be changed, and it still would come off more half-assed then Broken Steel was. (At least Broken Steel was vaugely believable).

Depending on play style I can see how an open ending for some might be good. Some people like to get through the story then spend extra time piddling around after the end. Others like to explore as much as possible within the game time. I'm of the latter persuasion, I like to get as much done before game ending just because in most games, getting all that stuff done makes the ending easier. But really I don't see what the big deal is. It's all about options. Just like F3,, you'd have your "ending".. and then be standing there after the credits roll. That gives you the player the option of continuing on you adventure and just playing or re-starting the game.
Options.. options, options. The more options there are for game play the happier the game players would be. Most complaints about games seem to usually be about piddly little options.

Don't 'fix' what isn't broken, by releasing a DLC with the word 'Broken' in it.

No.

For the fifteen trillionth time.

Once again:

If you do everything there is to do before fighting the final battle, then there is NO reason to continue after the end!

It's called "beating a dead horse." Though in this case the horse was dead before the game was released, and has since been resurrected, killed again, beaten as a dead horse some more, raised as a zombie, beaten as undead, killed again, and beaten into bone dust which is still being taken out and beaten on a regular basis.

And it still ain't gonna happen per http://www.destructoid.com/fallout-new-vegas-has-a-definitive-end-181927.phtml and http://www.destructoid.com/fallout-new-vegas-has-a-definitive-end-181927.phtml, so pity that poor dead horse.

"Should they fix the end of New Vegas with DLC?"

The end ain't broken, and no they shouldn't break it with a lame Borked Steal-type DLC.

The chances of this happening are incredibly, unequivocally, slim. Despite these odds, I hope (and I know many will disagree with me) that a DLC will come out similar to Broken Steel for New Vegas. Now I realize this would take vast amounts of work considering the many possible endings, but I would pay upwards of $15 for it. Reason being is that when I play games with a main quest line I feel like I need to finish it. F:NV pushes me to finish the quest line and for some reason I don't get the feeling I can just put off doing the main quest and do some minor side quests. It just seems strange (as a role player) to completely ignore the main quest. I wish I could play after the ending so I can feel relaxed after I finish the main quest and do side quests (which is what I do for FO3).

I would love it, but it would be too hard to pull off.

for example, if Yes Man won the Dam, you would have to remove the Khans, the NCR, the Legion, probably the Crimson Caravan and Gunrunners, fill the place with securitrons, and THEN work out what the courier is actually going to do in Free Vegas....

Second thoughts, I like the sound of it already :D

They should add that to the warning message at the point of no return jeez people there will be NO ABOMINATION OF A DLC LIKE BS.Bs was a fun play but not a fun thought.
