Broken Steel 2.0 - Would you be interested?

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 10:00 pm

Broken Steel fixed a lot of the problems with the original Fallout 3's ending and it also added a lot of content which fleshed out the Enclave's conflict with the Brotherhood of Steel. Would anyone be interested in something similar for Fallout 4?

Things I could see being done would be:

* Ending Slides when you complete the Broken Steel 2.0 Campaign.

* The chance to command your faction after end-game and make changes or decisions based on what you do now that you have real influence.

* The chance to marry one of your romantic partners.

* More advantages related to your role as leader of one of the Factions.

* anolyzing the Fallout from your decision and quests related to whichever faction you destroyed.

What do you think?

I believe that post-MQ faction stories are one of things that would be amazing. Seeing the consequences of you choice and molding the future would be really, really nice.

This. If I'm going to be Institute big cheese I want to say "Right. We're no longer treating synths as slaves but they can still be made as long as we see them as equals that are more like clones as opposed to mindless machines". Then they can ever deal with it or let me kill them.

Why do I have to follow a script on that mic when giving a speech instead of choosing my own words again? And not be given the option of "Toss script, say what I want"?

I don't need to become a leader of the BoS, unless Maxon intends to leave the commonwealth and desires a permanent chapter to remain the in his place. In which case, being the sentinel and from the commonwealth, you would be the best choice.

I'm not partial to ending slides either. I like leaving the fate of things up to my imagination. TBH the ending slides were freaking depressing to me, especially in new vegas.

I do like the idea of *Post ending* faction content, however, and I'd appreciate the ability to marry one of our companions. Or go on a marriage quest, even. I just hate the idea of anything being closed down to slides, because that would state it was the ending of the games entire story. Not very friendly to story mods, who can come up with really brilliant ideas as far as what happens next, if given an open ended story to work with.

I imagine Elder Maxson will eventually return to the Capital Wasteland now that the Institute is destroyed.

In which case, since he left his Sentinel in charge of the CW while he was gone, yeah, he would leave his new Sentinel in charge of the Commonwealth.

Dukes of Steel, so to speak.

Well, he will return eventually, that is known. But wether or not this happens in the context of the game would be the key factor. I'll miss the Prydwen, but as long as he leaves me with a vertibird or two, and the ability to pick a few key soldiers to start the growth of my chapter (Like Danse and Haylen) Plus some "BOS Knight" generic NPC's who want to stay under your command- I would be quite happy with whatever story goes around that.

nope. The current factions are a bit lackluster. Bring on the new!

Because it is impossible for Beth to make every possible dialogue option available.

Still, there is enough to make the speech mean different things.

You basically can for the important parts.

I told the Commonwealth if they didn't cooperate it would lead to their complete annihilation.

Shaun didn't like that.

I gave the Captain America speech.

"We are here to help! Do not be afraid! We're the good guys."

Shaun is like, "Err, okay."

What was the original speech's tone?

Not if you kill him.

While amusing, "one/few word responses" don't count. Because it's the same logic with the dialog wheel in general. That is "Pick X thing here and listen to the same 90% Y stuff with only 10% being different". I should have had the right to make my own grand speech. I'M the leader aren't I? Much like a certain moment in Knights of the old republic, where I could either inspire inspiration or dread depending on what I chose to say (leading a rag tag band of hopeless village defenders). Too much voice acting for them I guess. Bah.

This is my speech, albeit not my character.

The Mad Science Doctor Doom speech would be awesome, I imagine.

I would approve of it, if there was some brotherhood involvement in some way or such.

I actually saved and reloaded time and again just to see do all the options. It's nice, but I would have liked to have said my own selection of things. Not just follow a script with a change here and there. A selection of scripts would have been neat. Even if it was as few as two.

there was a script? lol

I love hearing "my" speech repeated on the radio after the end, that was a really nice touch. Just wish I could command my synths to do stuff, defend my settlements, attack those supermutants, and not just help them out at checkpoints. That gets old after a while. So yeah, I'm all for Broken Steel v2
