Brotherhood of the Axe

Post » Fri Jul 01, 2011 12:42 pm

This is for all of my fellow men of the axe.

There's nothing like chopping down some svckahs with blunt, bladed justice. Generally, I've always played a battle-mage type first playthrough, but seeing that axe come down hard, crumpling that poor bastard in the vids, and seeing the finishing animation on that frost dragon, I am really excited to make a so-called master of the axe. From what I saw, they really nailed the weight of the axe which makes it look like a far more imposing option for any barbarian traversing the frozen North.

So sound off on your deepest, darkest barbarian fantasy. What will your ideal axe look like? Do you go two hands and just throw metal around, or go one-handed on a foe like your shopping firewood on some baddie's face.

If you are planning an axeman/ women build, what's he/she all about?

I'm planning an old grizzled warrior with a long white beard and scars crisscrossing every inch of his body with a huge two-handed axe shaped like bat-wings. I'm thinking light armor, no real magic beyond possibly a few touches here and there in enchanting, excels in smithing, blocking, and laying fools out! Join the Brotherhood of the Axe and rejoice in the Barbarian horde!

Tell me your tale...

Perhaps you'd seek an alliance with the "Communion of the Greatsword"? :tops:

Perhaps...

Well, let me know, chap. I'm a greatsword user, but I'd make an exception for my fellow users of 2-hand weapons. :tops:

I'll probably make someone like out of Bernard Cornwell's Chronicle's of Arthur (either a Saxon or someone like Owain or Derfel). So he'll have a fairly large battleaxe as a main weapon and a smaller axe for backup (in case someone dis-arms me or it breaks). Light armor as well and maybe alchemy or restoration. Definitely smithing but i'm not sure about blocking. It doesn't look barbaric enough (hehe)! He'll be either bald or have very large hair and a giant beard to match. Maybe like a dwarf except 7 foot tall!

Sign me up! I'm a fan of Dwarves at heart, and since Nords tend to share most of the same awesome qualities that make Dwarves Dwarves, you can bet I'll be wielding a big @$$ two handed axe!

My character will pretty much ALSO look like a 7 foot Dwarf *winks at Licey Mcpaladin*

I wanted to make a character based off of George R.R. Martin's character, Eddard "Ned" Stark, except much younger and different of course. His skill and capability has never been questioned, wielding a greatsword the width of a man's hand and a length of four foot. (I'm describing the sword, Ice, used by Ned in the series by the way). Also a very skilled magic user, he threw away the ways of magicka he considered dark (destruction, conjuration, etc) and stuck to using restoration magicka. With this sect of magicka at his disposal, he uses it to heal those who are wounded and buff him and his allies. I'm basically making a Paladin of sorts character, lawful goodness and all the jazz. :tops:

Since my rogue will duel-wield, I figure my warrior will use an axe-and-board.

One of my favorite characters was my Orc, Krogan gro-Gorx, a basic Melee adventurer with some marskman skills. His preferred weapon was a 2H battleaxe which split the skulls of a thousand and one Ogres.

I enjoyed RPing as him in OB, and now that I've seen what Orcs are gonna look like in Skyrim (Frikken mean and predoatory) I may create his descendant and RP with him.

Count me in

A scarred, maimed, bone-armoured Dark Elven hero with a waraxe and shield. Worked his way up to Daedric in Morrowind, but any one-handed axe will do. Might consider a spell in the off-hand if he's feeling Nightblade-y.

An axe near splitting a Draugr's head in two in the gameplay trailer was especially satisfying. I'm looking forward to exploring the axe perks in Skyrim.

Axes look pretty damn sick this time around. My Dunmer spellsword will probably be a spellaxe instead.

I want a greatsword like that, like Ice, the most beautiful greatsword I've ever seen. There is something so wonderful about it's simplicity, it doesn't need spikes jutting out of the blade or handles. All it needs is to get the job done, and of course, being made of the ever sharp & durable Valyrian Steel certainly helps as well. :tops:

I'm definitely looking forward to trying out all 2h weapons, even though i'm not likely to play a pure character with them. Would be cool to have an equivalent to jyggalag's sword (ridiculously huge blade).

I've been wanted to dual wield axes ever since I heard of their perk. Imagine, a heavily armored nord marching up; with two sharp war axes.
With every squishy he strikes, more blood flies. This goes on and on until they eventually bleed out and I, with my heavy defenses will have outlived the bleeding
Elf-er I mean... The bleeding fool!
