Bruma as the southern most town?

I think it would be pretty cool to have Bruma in the game.

Considering there are only 5 major cities in the game, I hope not. I mean lorewise, there are supposed to be more than that in skyrim. That being said, I could easily see a mod for Bruma and the most northern part of Cyrodiil early on.

I suppose it could be cool to revisit old places, but what I really want is to explore new places! :P I'm not up to scratch on the geography either, so I don't know how far Skyrim is from Bruma.

http://tamrielchronicles.com/images/TamrielMap.jpg should help. Bruma is essentially a border town, hence why it sort of reflects nordic influences in its architecture, and why a large portion of its population is Nord.

It would be pretty neat to have Bruma, but the fact is that the town is based in Cyrodiil and not Skyrim. Would be cool to see somebody recreate it as a mod though.

Absolutely, a great idea. I love Bruma and it would be a cool way to tie Skyrim together with Oblivion the where you would revisit the same houses (and maybe even people, those who are still alive) from one small part of the last game. It won't happen though.

This. I considered Bruma my hometown in Cyrodiil, and I'd of course love to be able to go back there... but it's kinda the point of playing "Skyrim" to play in Skyrim, isn't it?

An intersting point is that Bruma is actually shown on the map of Skyrim in GI. For some reason they showed Bruma, then the border for Skyrim. Could just be n00bness on Game Informers part though.

If there are only 5 major cities, then it may be likely that we are not going to see ALL of Skyrim, we never saw all of Morrowwind either, only vardenfel, and NO that one city doesn't count

I think the "5 major cities" quote is possibly being misinterpreted by some people. To me, there was only one major city in Oblivion — The Imperial City. Based on the fact that the official maps of Skyrim show more than five notable settlements, I think that we will have five cities that are on a similar scale to the IC (i.e. 70%-130% as large and/or populated). We should also have around 5-10 towns, around the size of Oblivion's other "cities," and hopefully a smattering of villages and small communities as well.

But to actually answer the question, I do not want or expect to see Bruma in Skyrim. There's no reason for it to be there since the game is taking place in Skyrim... Plus including Bruma would also mean including Pale Pass, Cloud Ruler Temple, and several other areas from Oblivion, which would just be weird to me.

I would say based on the info, it's not possible. You can see the whole of Cyrodiil from Bruma, and they said that you can go to all the places you can see in the distance. That sounds to me like there will be a huge mountain range to the South, maybe with some passes that have been blocked off by earth slides or something...

Wait... Is it inside skyrim's border, or outside? Given that the game is 200 years from Oblivion, the borders may have shifted a little.

It's definitely south of the Skyrim border in GI. The map in question actually shows most of Cyrodiil including the IC and Nibenay basin. It's slightly transparent, on page 47 (the one with a dragon on top of a rock structure).

With the possible exception of the elven residents of Bruma, I doubt any characters you saw in it in Oblivion would be alive, even if it did appear in Skyrim.

And I doubt we'll see it, for one thing, the game takes place in Skyrim, and Bruma is part of Cyrodiil. This doesn't mean much on its own as the borders of the provinces could well have shifted during the 2oo years between games. But when you consider that there are supposed to be five major cities, less than the lore describes, I rather doubt it. If Bethesda already has to remove cities that are part of province in known lore, I doubt they'd add in ones that weren't originally supposed to be in Skyrim.

I'm not sure I'd want to see Bruma either, for the same reasons I wouldn't want to see Solstheim, I've already seen Bruma in Oblivion, and when I play a new game, I want to see new places I've never seen before, not old ones. Nostalgic value aside, since this is the first time since Arena we've been able to go to Skyrim in any game, it's a perfect oportunity to show us some new things, so I wouldn't want them to spend time remaking old places, even though Bruma could end up looking pretty different with two centuries between games and a new engine.

In any case, I would not be surprised if there will eventually be a mod adding Bruma and the surrounding area, if the game supports mods.

As awesome it would be to walk around Bruma 200 years later and see my Oblivion character's statue, I wouldn't think it'd make sense. Bruma is in Cyrodill, not Skyrim. If you want to walk in Bruma, play Oblivion. Chances are the lowest point of the Skyrim map is the mountains that are behind Cloud Ruler Temple.

And I'm afraid that after 200 years, the only ones who would still be alive from the time of Oblivion are Bosmers and Altmers. Everyone else would have died long ago.

They have just put regular Tamriel map that you can find everywhere on the background. We can see Bruma & IC only because that way name Skyrim from the map get to be on nice position.
It has no special hidden messages imo.

Sadly, I never saw that page. (Only have scans to look at at the moment) What about the other providences? See much of highrock, hammerfel, or morrowind? I'm interested, since it would probably make things easier for modders who decide to work on them.

Wait, never mind. I found the page you were talking about.

If we are suppose to go back, I would want to go back to Morrowind.

Thing is, I don't really want to go back to what we had. I want new places.
I want to go to Black Marsh. So I rather have new cities, new provinces
not old.

The most of going back, I would say in an expansion, is Blood Moon.
Maybe see the island of Vvardenfall from a distance, but that would be
it from seeing old places.

New new new, not old. :)

Morrowind is... well, changed, to be blunt. It's sort of... blown up.

I'd like to take a journey over to High Rock or Hammerfell. Maybe that will be an expansion.
