Brutal Legend

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 5:23 pm

SO I picked up Brutal Legend on PS3 for $13 or so today and I expected it to be OK but nothing fantastic.

IT IS FANTASTIC.

Lead an army of headbangers, kill baddies with an electric guitar, drive an awesome car, meet OZZY, listen to metal. TRULY DELIVERS.

ITs incredible fun and if your looking for something diferent and fun pick it up.

I'm not obsessed with heavy metal like some of the board members but it is good music, and almost anything Jack Black touches is funny or badass, so I'm really looking forward to playing it.

I saw something in gameinformer awhile back and I really loved the art style.

It's not a work of genius gameplay-wise, kind of like a lighter Sacrifice. But yeah, it has THE METULZ. And lots of it. And I loved every second of it.

I hate Jack Black. I liked him a lot better when he only did bit parts in serious movies where he acted like a human being.

I played the demo a few months back and found it pretty enjoyable. The sense of humor developed around the concept of metal fandom was very entertaining, and the soundtrack was pretty sweet as well.

I just picked up a copy of Alan Wake a few days ago, so when I finish that, I shall have to pick this up.

It's a pretty good game (Alan Wake). Got some nice little quirks about it and is a pretty fun change of pace for me.

Relatively polished as well, although I wouldn't go around expecting your mind to be blown at every corner. The visuals are very nice overall, though.

I really like the game's concept, but I'm not into metal in the slightest, so I haven't tried it out.

If it was a game based around underground/conscious hip hop, I would've picked it up in a second.

Bleh, I bought this game the day it came out after playing the demo and absolutely loving it. Then I got about half way through the game and realized that it just turned into a horrible repetitive RTS game. Suffice to say, I did not enjoy this game at all.

I think why I like it so much is that I didnt have the bar set high, so rather than disappointed I was thrilled.

However it pretty much hits all my favorite things, Cool Car, Explosions, Metal, Chicks, I mean its perfect for me.

I've tried Brutal Legend, it's pretty fun the first couple of hours but I think it got repetitious fast.

But this game has been touched by Jack Black and Tim Schafer (well, actually it was more than just touched by him). I won't be playing it however because I don't own PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 (or Nintendo Wii for that matter) and don't plan on purchasing either.

Oddly the only thing stopping me buying this game is having to pt up with Jack Black playing Jack Black for the 30th time.

I loved it (though it is a little hack'n slashy)

Classic metal, Jack Black, and Tim Schafer are all things I like. I can see how it would be an aquired taste, though.

The game had a lot of potential, but deciding to turn sections into a poorly done RTS turns me off the whole affair.

Ever seen be kind and rewind?

I played the demo. I loved how everything was so stylized...it was like Tim Burton tackled a video game. I can appreciate the art style but the humor and the music wasn't really in my ball park.

I thought Brutal Legend svcked. It had an awesome story, setting, writing, etc., but the gameplay was so not fun and it ruined the game for me.

Here's hoping for Psychonauts 2.

I had an interest in the game since it was announced, and still do actually, but I've been waiting for it to come down to under twenty bucks. I know I will enjoy it for what it's worth, but I can already tell it's gonna be a game I play in stints, so It'll be the perfect summer game for me.

It was enjoyable. I really enjoyed cruising about listening to some of the tunes they had in game.

Also, the ending was hilarious.

I didn't like the RTS gameplay sections too much, but Double Fine can do no wrong. :)

Also, Doviculus has to be one of my favorite villains.

Brutal Legend is a fun game. I was one of the few people who actually really liked the RTS sections. Almost every review I've read of the game complained about these parts but I thought they worked really well. The real-time combat was sluggish enough, but the soundtrack was amazing and the story was quite good. The game world was really vibrant too.

I'd give it an 8/10.
