BSA Browser issue

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:22 am

Ok. I recently installed Morrowind onto my new PC, which is running Windows 7. Problem is that, for some reason, Windows is not recognizing or utilizing any of the data files from any of the BSA files. I've had to manually drag all the data files off the discs, but the vanilla MW files are stuck in a BSA archive. So....I whip out BSA Browser (which I had been using for years on my XP powered PC), but none of the commands will initialize. I can open up a BSA file and see what's in it, but it doesn't execute the unpack command when I click it. The same goes for when I try to pack files also. So...I'm at a loss. Do these BSA utilities not work on Windows 7? Does Windows 7 have a problem with BSA files? Is there another pack/unpack program I can use that will work? Is there a patch or update that I can do to resolve the issue?

I'll sum it up this way: help :brokencomputer:

To be honest I can't understand your problem with the BSA files. I've always install Morrowind without any problem and how to view BSA I use http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=376, but the only problem I think of is where you have installed Morrowind.
Is it in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(x86) folder?

If you have installed in any of these folders I suggest that you should read this http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/781497-vistawindows-7-problems/. :read:

BSA Unpacker (the TESNexus link you just gave, although it incorrectly calls itself 'BSA Browser' in the program window, as the screenshot shows) works fine on Wndows 7. It is unpack only, though.
At least it's a standalone program that doesn't rely on the Java Runtime Environment, which not everyone wants to install. The BSA Browser help file appears broken on Wndows 7 too.
