[RELz] BSA Registration Utility

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 6:34 am

Since a lot of people are reporting problems with BSAReg when used with Windows7 and Vista (due to their UAC controls and problems with Morrowind reg keys) I remade a BSA Registration Utility that should avoid the problems completely.

Here's the ReadMe:

Name: Morrowind BSA Registration Utility
Version: 1.4
Date: 14.04.2012
Category: Utilities
Author: Kingpix
HomePage: http://morrowindoverhaul.rpgitalia.net

=================
Requirements:
=================

A Morrowind installation is all you need!

=================
Description:
=================

This simple utility is designed for those who are experiencing problems with BSAReg and Windows 7/Vista. With this program you will be able

to register all the needed BSA archives with a mouseclick! The Verify Plugin works with a database to find if the archive has at least the

needed plugin active to work properly. You can turn off this feature by unchecking the proper checkbox.

===============
Installation:
===============

Extract the executable file in the Morrowind folder, in the same place as Morrowind.ini.

===============
Un-Installation:
===============

Simply delete the executable file.

=================
History:
=================

12.04.2012 - v1.0 - Initial Release.
12.04.2012 - v1.1 - Fixed a little bug.
13.04.2012 - v1.2 - Added a possibility to turn off the warnings, fixed another bug.
13.04.2012 - v1.3 - Added a "Detect All" button, to detect in every moment all the bsa archives existent in the Data Files folder. Fixed

another little bug of the GUI.
14.04.2012 - v1.4 - Added the "Exit" button, fixed a bug and implemented the Verify Plugin feature.

It's like most sites, you need to be logged in, can't download unless you are. But then it's not a problem, takes 2mins to sign up :bunny:

I added a secondary download that doesn't require Login (from the Morrowind Overhaul's servers).
I really suggest TESAlliance, btw. It deserves to be more populated by Morrowind fans! :smile:

EDIT: I also uploaded a new version, I fixed a little bug in the tool. :smile:

Certainly not on GHF nor MMH and that applies to every affiliate sites there is on http://www.fliggerty.com/ except for the advlt rated mods that's hosted on Wolflore. :tes:

I don't have any problem with BSAReg in Windows7 and why others have problems is beyond me when it's so simple to get it to work, but your version of BSAReg do have some interesting features. :smile:

You know, I was trying to get connary's texture bsa to work with my new install for morrowind rebirth, and I was sure I must have been doing something wrong. And then, again, with children of morrowind on my new install for Keening. Thank you for confirming that it was just bsareg failing on windows 7, and thank you for this utility.

Registration isn't required to download anything in our general section, but our advlt section does require registration to access it.

Anytime I have problems, I do it manually. This utility should help those poor souls though!

Yeah it's mainly designed for ease-of-use because it's something I needed to do for Morrowind Overhaul.
So I thought it would be useful for someone to share it. :smile:

Yeah, I hate doing it manually; I never have problems with the BSAreg but this tool will be next if it ever fails me!

I've one question about Bethesda's default BSA. I wonder what will happen if I accidentally click on the delete button would they will be permanently deleted from my system or would they be deleted from the list? :unsure:

Bethesda's default BSA - Tribunal.bsa, Bloodmoon.bsa

I can also tell you that you can launch it from the http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/4708/wmsautilitiestab.png in http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1331996-yacobys-wrye-mash-fork/. :thumbsup:

The program just deletes the bsa from the list, so they are only un-registered from the ini.
Now that I think of I could put a warning message to tell you are un-registering the Bethesda default BSAs.
What do you think?

Good idea. You could also have a configuration feature of how much help text you want or a setting in a BSA Registration Utility.ini file to turn on/off the first message you get when you launch it.

Leo don't hate me, I updated it again :P
As you can see http://moautoupdate.net/BSAscreen.jpg I added the "Detect All" button, that redetects again all the bsa file if you need to (or you added another one while running the tool).
As always if you could update the description, the file and also the screen on GHF I would be very grateful! :foodndrink:
