I can't seem to find a potion of resist paralysis in the game.


Yeah, I made it from cure paralyzation.

It's moot, though. I already figured out what I'm going to do. I'm finally off shift for the week, so going to go to sleep for 15+ hours. When I get up, I'll work on the update.

The primary focus is a bunch of spells in the "Spells" plugin that I still think are worthless, but I remembered that I haven't really gone back and done any re-balancing since the code patch disallowed rapid-fire spamming of magic items, so there are a few more changes to be made, too.

Someone also made a rather lengthy post in the PES comments section that brought a few other ideas to mind. All in all, every plugin is going to get some kind of an update. I just need some time to sit down and do it all.

I've collected a whole bunch of enchanted stuff so far, yet it seems like there is just never enough time to utilize multiple enchantments in a fight considering the cool down time involved.

Yeah, but the same thing can be said of spells.

Not very. It would be too easy to work around/exploit, not to mention that I don't think it's possible in the first place.

Not very. It would be too easy to work around/exploit, not to mention that I don't think it's possible in the first place.
It should be possible with what I know of C/C++, even if you only had a single function to edit. You'd simply keep a list of item IDs, and the time that it has to be before you can use it again. Then each time the casting function is called you consult this list and clear out old entires at the same time.

This would make it possible, for example, to have a one second global cooldown combined with a per-item 4 second cooldown. Something like that makes a bit more sense to me.

That seems like an interesting approach though personally for myself I would prefer a 4-second global cooldown just because there are so many overpowered items.

BTB, do you think some sort of "tax" system has any place in the game? I was thinking about player Powers and how it's just so convenient to rest for a day whenever you have the chance so that you can use your Power over and over. It seems like this wouldn't be what the devs originally had in mind. The only simple workaround that comes to my mind is a tax system that scales with the level of the player to create an incentive for the player to avoid resting often.

I am aware that mods for this exist but I wanted to hear your thoughts.

Some players use things like hunger mods to restrict sleeping. After all, you can't sleep for a week if you need to eat every 24 hours or something.

I'd thought about it and eventually concluded that it's just like playing any other RPG where you're at level one and everything around the starter town is kicking your ass, so you go back in and rest after every fight. Anyone who uses their powers that much as a crush will eventually learn how not to, or just won't progress very far into the game because of it.

Why?

Presumably bc it's overpowered. It's one of the most overpowered items in the game.

Actually, no, you'll have to custom-build that one.

When I was setting the magnitudes of the open spells, I was thinking to myself that I needed to at least give the player *some* kind of a reason to make custom spells.

I admit that I never had much reason to use soul trap in vanilla, so I'm not sure if this problem relates to vanilla, BTB's mod, some other person's mod, or some combination thereof. The problem is this: I cast soul trap with a success rate of 85%. However, it seems that 4/5 times that I successfully cast the spell, nothing happens to whatever creature I'm trying to trap. My intelligence is crap (I was the smart one who decided that Willpower is more important for a Battlemage), so I only get a few casts before I have to go rent a bed or buy a potion, and I've got nothing to show for it. Any clue as to why this would happen?

Also, BTB, you've done an excellent job of making me hate Morrowind. The province, that is, not the game. Now that there's no free money and everyone refuses to serve me until I rank up, everyone in the game is a ******* *******. For some strange reason, this makes me want to play more.

Um... no clue, really. So long as the spell is successful, it should effect its target.

Oh 7th Saga, I remember playing that game. And by playing, I mean dying...a lot. Still had quite a bit of fun though. :3

I'm at 9/10 of the way to level two, and haven't obtained enough cash to buy any training (although, to be fair, I'm rocking a pretty neat suit of armor). Any advice?

Dungeon-diving? Recovering valuable artifacts is always lucrative. You can raid plenty of dungeons at low levels if you are careful and shrewd.

This mod is kind of anti-farming, but you could probably still farm souls. If you have trouble casting soul trap, just get Soul Drinker from Ranis. You will need to make sure that you are decent at enchant, though, and also trapping only decent-quality souls so that you will be able to recharge the blade as you go along.

I went into Addamasartus and had my *** handed to me. Granted, I did it with no armor or potions, but it scared me away from dungeon diving. Maybe I'll have to try it again. Thanks for the advice. :)

It's pretty sad to get beaten up in Addamasartus but it's not as outrageous if you turn up the difficulty slider... Honestly, though, you don't even need to fight anyone in there. Just run down to the crates and grab the key, then have everyone chase you up to the top near the slaves then dive into the upper tunnel there and emerge into the loot stash from the other side. This is of course only necessary if you cant take a few hits damage long enough to quickly grab the loot with the NPCs present.

You're using the "fix" from the MCP that lets NPCs use their racial powers, aren't you?
