I just completed "Tour of Duty" but I can't get Maxson to assign me the next quest "Show No Mercy". He just says he's too busy too talk.

This is a known bug. Does anyone have a workaround?

You should do the quest to enter The Institute, Inside job. Download the stuff to Network holotape. Anyway, here is BoS .gamepur.com/guide/21226-fallout-4-brotherhood-steel-shadow-steel-tour-duty-show-no-mercy-and-within.html. It's important that you speak to everyone at "tour of duty".

I can't go any further on the BoS quest line. All I can get are the radiant quests.

Have you talked to Lancer captain Kells? I read something at Nexus right now... It's possible that some quests do not trigger as they should. It seems like Kells have something to do.

No luck. He won't converse with me either.

Where is Maxson? Maybe you trigger the quest at the wrong place. Go outside the deck to where he looks down at the Fort, and if he wasn't there, try using console command to move him there.

Maxson is just standing there on the bridge. If I try to talk to him he either says he's too busy or that he'll send for me if he wants me. According to the fallout wiki this is a known bug with this particular quest line.

Only way to reload a saved game and try again.
