Bug - companions quest - nothing after "stealing plans&#

Post » Wed Mar 11, 2015 6:19 am

Hello,

I've just returned the plans to Aela, and...she doesn't say anything to me. When I'm near her, she says:

"I've been running interference for you around here. I don't think anyone's caught on on our little campain. Yet."

"Have you been brining battle to the Silver Hand, friend ? I wish I could be there. Soon."

"I hope the hunting goes well, Brother. We've got these cowards on their heels, now."

No one in the Companions has any type of work for me. In fact, after I finish "stealing plans" for Aela, the game doesn't tell me ask for work from the Companions's leaders. I've checked and this bug is well-known. This game is 3 years old. I've been running into all sorts of trouble since I bought this game but this but is the hardest I've had to solve yet.

I'm too advanced in the game to make a new one. If my game is broken I will return it to the store. Because it's a broken game. I'm not trying to be bold here, just a frustrated consumer. Thank you for any help you can bring.

The game is not broken.

All Bethesda games will have glitches and bugs. Some guests will have glitches and bugs. It is important to create a lot of fresh manual game saves and not use the auto game save or quick save feature. Do you have an older game save.

Thank for for the reply.

I obviously have an older save. It's when I'm doing the "retrieval" quest. I used it but still didn't work when I redid the quest. The problem isn't that I can't complete the quest. It's that nothing happens after it's completed. I tried letting days pass, reload my game, do some other quests before completing "stealing plans", but nothing works.

Someone said that if you didn't complete the Helm of Winterhold misc quest before doing this quest, it wouldn't work, so I did it, but still didn't change anything.

EDIT: I've tried something else that also doesn't work. I reloaded my game, completed "retrieval", but did "rescue mission" for Vilkas before accepting "stealing plans" from Aela. I was hoping if I progressed more within Companions, they would give me all the quests. BUT NO. When I get back to Aela after having rescued Faendal, the dialogue required for "stealing plans" isn't there anymore.

Actually this is a radiant quest from Aela.

If you reload an earlier save, you should get another quest in a different location.

Try to load a previous save, and then make a new manual save.

After, exit your game, clear your XBOX 360 cache, reload that last "new" save you just made, and go to Aela to get that quest - most probably, in a different location. !!!

--------

Actually the game is not broke, only this quest can sometimes glitch out.

Thank you for your answer.

Unfortunately I tried every available solution proposed to me by Bethesda support, including the ones you just mentionned, and nothing worked, so I returned the game at the store yesterday and got a full refund. I'm never buying an TES game on consoles again, will buy TES VI on PC to get more patches and mods that fix questlines.

Ahh, that's a pleasant surprise, that you got your money back. !!!

You could just buy Skyrim PC version, and not wait until TES IV comes out.

------------

(There is a console command to skip this part of the quest on PC: setstage cr10 20)

But that doesn't mean you will encounter the bug again. That's randomly, i guess - as i haven't encountered this particularly glitch on my play-through with Skyrim. I own the PC version.

Unfortunately I don't have the PC to play Skyrim right now. I've been playing on my 360 since its release, but the new consoles seem disappointing so I'll probably buy a good PC when I'm done playing all the interesting games on 360 (I have Witcher 2, Dragon's Dogma, Blacklist and Dark Souls 2 unopened sitting on my TV shelf).

Looking forward to playing some COOP (not MMO) in TES VI with you guys.

I thing you should start to play your XBOX 360 games then ASAP.

Unopened games ??? How you withstand ??? lol

If you like COOP games. you should rent Destiny, and give it a try !!!

It's single player, and has coop missions as well. (btw, it requires to be on-line as well.)

I intend to play it, being a huge Halo fan. But I want to experience it with someone the whole time, even if I can play single player. And I don't have the time for MMOs right now, being at unversity. But thanks :)
