Bug in Croup Manor

Post » Sat Mar 19, 2016 3:11 pm

Folks I need some help/advice. The Croup Manor mission is bugged and I cannot activate the workshop to complete the mission. I get the message that I need to kill all the enemies in the area. I have strip-searched the house and the the cellar. I have turned over every stone in the area, I typed in "killall" on the console to eliminate all npcs and the message persists. Now I am not the fastest bunny in the forest but I am sure that everything is dead. Can someone please tell me how to advance this mission.

I've read that some of the ghouls may slip off the cliff behind? maybe someone can confirm if this could be it...

There's also one behind a locked door upstairs that's easy to miss.

I suspect a ghoul is playing dead.

Get a rocket launcher and blow up everything. Scorched earth style.

Also, sometimes, when I clear Croup and fast travel to some place else and then come back, there is suddenly a ghoul getting up near the workbench (which I had already unlocked at that point).

Try to go some where else and then come back to Croup. And yes, check upstairs as well, as Myst said.

I had this problem till I got the key out of the locked desk or whatever, went into basemant with it and pew pew al l the zombies.

But could be a bug if that doesn't fix it. Try reloading an earlier save if it happened to auto before you go to that area.

....Might also be a ghoul alive somewhere too so chop them zombies to pieces if you need to. :)

The one in the locked room upstairs is lying down as if he is dead, he didn't move for me until I put a 10mm in him, then he got up and attacked. He would have been easy to overlook if I hadn't taken a shot at him. He was one of the glowing ones which is why I took the shot. Also, as Agrona said, there is (or was for me also) a ghoul in the bush by the car port and work bench. He was also lying down when I went there first, but upon returning, he was standing up in the bush, though he wasn't attacking me. He appears to be stuck somehow. But one shot and he was dead also.

Yeah those ghouls spawn weird sometimes. But I find when they spawn right it can be interesting because I never know whats around the corner sometimes with those things.

I started cutting off all the heads of the "dead" looking ones lol, just to be sure....

It`s the single worst settlement for glitch... that`s for sure lol.

Some ghouls also get stuck between floors and walls in that house...

You're going to have to do a sweep of the building as some of the ghouls play dead and wont come running at you no matter how much noise you make. Also sometimes they dont spawn so you'll need to fast away and back a couple of times, that usually fixes it for me.

I've heard people saying the ghouls can wander into the surrounding area, not sure if thats true or not so you might want to check a little bit away from the manor and see if any of those ghouls are still alive.

That is exactly what is happening in my game on Xbox One. After I cleared that place and build my settlement. When I fast travel and come back. None of the dead ghouls disappear. So I hold A and move them off the cliff. Except the one that is stuck in the house and the other that has been turned to red ash.

Also, I don't know if this is happening in my game only but every time I fast travel there. I experience 2 random events. One where a BoS heli is battling something off to the distance to the right of Croup Manor. Then w/e that is (pair of savage deathclaws, ghoul reavers, etc.) attacks my settlement base. Then there's the house across the street to the left. First, its occupied by minuteman attacked by raiders or ghouls. The next time I fast travel to Croup Manor, its BoS there being attacked by Super Mutants or its Super Mutants being attacked by 4-6 BoS + 2 helis.

I wish my other settlements got random events happening nearby.

Talking about ghouls. I had a settlement quest to clear out ghouls in a warehouse nearby Sanctuary.

Guess where the ghouls were at? In between containers in the corner. Oh and turned out there's only one ghoul target.

So yeah, the spawning might be fukked up.

Thats not actually a bug when he spawns there. He's supposed to climb over the barricade to get to you, you can find other ghouls doing this elsewhere in the game. Sometimes he'll climb over but other times he wont and you'll need to move round the side and shoot him through the gap.

Croup Manner actually has a Quest bug.

I got the original minuteman Quest to clear out Croup.

I did, and had a thriving settlement ruining.

Much later, I got an Institute Quest to kill the Ghouls at croup Manner.

Say what - that is my Settlement...

Travel to Croup, the Quest marker goes away. No Ghouls in residence.

In my attempt to end the Quest, I put all food, water, and defenses in storage.

Those settlers that would not leave - I executed.

So all zeros, and just waiting for new Ghouls to take up residence. Not great hopes though.

That sounds like the best idea - then you'll see the marker on your compass.

Croup is a bit buggy though. In a previous playthrough I cleared it, set up as a settlement etc., but have one live ghoul hanging around the workshop area. Can't kill him, but then he doesn't attack. Just hangs around like an uninvited guest.

Kind of got quite fond of him now.

That cliff is cursed. either it's ghouls getting stuck there so you can't complete the quest, or it's the settlers standing there doing nothing and not being able to move them because they're out of the construction area.

I had a bug similar to this with the Institute's Pest Control: Croup Manor quest.

I had cleared the settlement out just before I got the quest from the Institute and made it one of my settlements.

But every time I came back there were dead bodies of the original ghouls I killed there. They were stuck in the roof and floor of some buildings. I threw them all away and every time I came back, there they were.

I couldn't get this to work at all. The ghouls I needed to kill for the Pest Control quest were already dead. And the game doesn't respawn them.

Eventually I found a forum post where a guy killed all the settlers to fix it.

I hated to do it, but I saved the game, then killed all the settles.

My Pest Control Radiant quest was finished and it still works as one of my 5 radiant quests.

So try that Save your game. Then kill all your settlers. New ones come as long as you have the radio tower set up. And it fixes that Pest Control bug.

Sadly it does nothing about the reoccurring ghoul dead bodies coming back every time.
