Bug, Glitches, Lags and Thier Cures

Post » Wed Dec 01, 2010 5:16 am

I made this thread so we can put all the bugs, glitches and lags we have encountered in the game and how we fixed them, if we could.

I have PS3 GOTY version.

Point Lookout.

Mageurites house has horribley laggy doors.

You sometimes cannot get in or out without it slowing down horribely as swampfolk descend on you.

The only cure I have is to save inside and/or save near and run away as fast as I can to another game cell.

Broken Steel

Adams Air Force Base is a laggy hell.

You cannot use guns bigger than rifles in parts of it.

One part in the building before the Mobile Base Crawler is horrific. The door to leave the building.
You cannot even walk let alone fire anything.

You can see it objecting to the parts of your armour that stick out.

The last playthrough it kept freezing as I made for the door.

I got out by just running and hoping the base door did not freak out.

It did once. Totally froze up.

Then I got through.

The cure is do not try to fight if it freezes, just make a run for it. Wear lighter or sleeker armour or clothing. The less of your gear that sticks out, the less lag possibley.

And do not fire the Mirv or a fatman. It freaks out if you so much as get any gun or weapon out.

It ends badly for you if you try and fire them.

I saw what the inside of 8 mini nukes looks like when lag cause me to fire the mirv into a doorway and wall.

Lots of white light, fire and blood.

Main Game.

Escorting the scientists out of Project Purity.

Taft Tunnels is a pain.

Dr Li and the rest get stuck on rocks.

So the cure is save before entering, and don't stop till you are out.

Don't pause too long, don't save, put it on very easy and hope you get out.

If you load a save from inside it still does it sometimes.

Really do not pause too long. Any stop action can cause it to happen.

Stuck companions.

Companions get stuck on rocks.

Dogmeat a lot.

The cure for this is hope they follow you, or reload.

Save before any rocks or sticking out scenery.

Evergreen Mills

The passage out of Evergreen Mills is a laggy hell.

Anything with stuff that goes over you lags.

But this is bad.

The cure is save before you go in and keep your weapon holstered. Drawn weapons make it worse.

Just run for it. Wear lighter armour or clothing. If it sticks out, it can make it lag more.

You can see the game fighitng your armour were it sticks out.

General advice. To avoid lag, keep your saves down to the minimum. One or two only.

Once it gets to 6 saves it makes it worse.

So those are mine. :) Put yours and your cures.

If my game gets laggy, I clear my cache. Done. I will crash, and this happens every time, twice upon entering Point Lookout. After that it's smooth sailing. And pre-GOTY here on 360, I have to do the Pitt before I do Point Lookout if I want certain weapons, as there is a invisible hole in one of the rooftops there. Other than that, I've had no problems, beyond the fun that the physics can play.
