BUG: Placed items sinking into surfaces after decorating

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 11:26 pm

Yesterday, I did a bunch of decorating in the RR and placed a bunch of decorative objects on desks, counters, and other surfaces. Went to do some questing and when I came back to RR, I discovered that many of those objects had started sinking down into the surfaces, and in some cases, had sunk all the way to the floor. (I'm hoping they don't also sink into the floor.) I picked up a couple of them and put them back on a counter, went questing again, and when I came back, they had fallen through the surface again. I have a lamp that is now "merged" with a dresser, and only the very top of the lampshade is now peeking above the surface.

I have the same problem none of the objects can detect the ground like dog bowls or anything on the ground become half buried.

Same issue. The handling of objects you place on shelves and tables is just not stable.

I placed the lunch boxes I collected on a shelf. And a Mr. Handy figure on an end table.

Came back sometime later, half the lunch boxes were on the floor or intersecting with the shelf. The other half and the figure were completely gone.

Either this needs fixing, or all the other tables, shelves, cabinets, etc... need to have a transfer feature that works like the bobble head stand and magazine racks.

Happened to me as well, guess this is a universal bug.

Doesn't happen to all items though - so far soap, books and cans stay in place. Sadly all the good stuff falls :/

Have a few things completely lost in the ground...I hope this doesn't mess the game up, hopefully it stops calculating the things.

I also have this problem, and have mentioned it in the bugreport forum. Please do so as well, all here.

Playing on XBox One and seeing the same problem, so I stopped decorating. Everything sinks. Doesn't matter if it's in a house you built or pre-existing. Disappointed in this.

I've also found myself "sunk" into the ground too many times to count, and it's been frustrating because movement simulates over-burdened. Going into 3rd person and returning fixes this, but it's an issue that needs correcting as soon as possible, please.

It is on PC for me, at the very least. Sorry, so used to just having that option.

That may explain where my missing bottle of bourbon went.

Noticed that decorative items like the tri folded flag and desk picture when trying to place them in workshop mode snap to halfway through the surface you try to place them.

Related but separate. The peg board should just snap items in place in workshop mode. It's an absolute pain trying to get guns up on it. In a perfect world I'd havethe ones I use mounted on the peg board and the ones I use for spare parts in my drawer.

Yep Wife and I have the same problem, mostly happens when we use the build mode to decorate. Using the grab function in game mode (like in skyrim) tends to have slightly better results. But yeah they need to fix this pronto because we love putting stuff on shelves I go around collecting stuff like a massive hoarder.

I am playing on XB1. It seems like the problem is universal to all systems though.

Same problem here on PS4. Also after you put up lets say a wine bottle and it fell through the shelf and you try to pick it up and re-place it, the picking up function will not adjust the item back to "standing" position. so my breadbox now is upside down and keeps immediately falling through the counter in my bar and the bottles are tipped over to the side...

Yes that also happens to me as well as the sinking items issue, playing on PC btw. Even tried returning the tipped over item to my bag and bringing it out again, and it was still tipped over :nope:

Well it is probably not "gone". I had the same problem. Everything on tables fell to the floor, and everything on drawers (all containers that goes to the ground) was missing.

That was until I found them 100 yards into the woods in nice piles. They probably fell to the ground when loading the game, but that "space" Is already occupied by the drawer, so they shoot away.

So go search the woods :-)

I found the sunken items eventually end up in the middle of the road, outside the house they were placed in.

My mate decorates his houses on every game Bethesda has made,
And he's lost 2 lunchboxes into the ground,
He's lost multiple nuka cola quantums into the ground,
And his decoration OCD is depressing him, and also his ability and his want to play and make this game his own.
He regrets buying an Xbox for fallout 4 because his game has not ceased to almost bring him to tears in the last 10 hours of his game.
I wish Bethesda listened, sad.
