Bug Report Thread

Just wanted to mention what Septiego said in the Forum Update Discussion, uploading pictures to your profile works now, you don't have to link to your facebook page anymore.

It'd be nice to see underlines on member's names when they are currently making a post or thread.

The "Go up" button seems to have been lost in the transition. It was a most useful little thing in all of the longer threads.

To solve the facebook issue, you should just make another facebook account for the sole purpose of linking it to your forum account. That way you'll still have a picture of yourself, but you wont be linking to your actual facebook account so your privacy is secure.

Also, should friends lists be vertical like that? Look at my profile, for example, there's so much space in the Friends section, but the friends are just stacked on top of each other, taking up space. It would look much better if the friends list was horizontal.

Oh sure, wonderful. Now, we bog down facebook with useless profiles just to use features on our own forum. Then, Facebook servers can have even greater strain from more profiles than before. That shouldn't be required of us, that we have to bog down another site just to use features on our own. (I understand that this will be a very minimal bog-down for Facebook, but still.)

It'd be nice to see underlines on member's names when they are currently making a post or thread.

They might actually BE underlined, we just can't see it in this darkness. They are Italicized though.

EDIT: I agree with Rane, I miss the Go Up button.

Also, some of the emotes are having graphic issues, namely :bolt: and :touched: Maybe you guys can't see them, but pieces of the faces disappear as the animation plays.

A minor quibble, but when updating my profile I noticed that Submit is styled but Cancel isn't. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e266/Celauran/Cancel.jpg.

I don't think Facebook is going to really be bogged down because of 1,000 or so extra profiles, considering they have over 300 million profiles already.

Besides, you can upload pictures now so there's no need to link to a facebook profile anymore.

Wooo! I am happy now ^_^

Though we desperately need to be able to archive PMs again. I just cleaned out before the update and am already a quarter full

There seems to be a bug with a lot of the profiles. Look at http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/user/489807-allstarn08/, for example, and you'll see that the stats don't match up with the numbers. Like it says "Joined: 11."

It's because of the 'Most Active In' takes up two lines.

Also, the 'Page Jump' feature, which sits in between the number of pages and the page links, is black, so it is hard to find in CD.

Right guys - time to show you the http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/1404/modscreen.jpg :) You can see some of them down towards the bottom.

We obviously have a lot more buttons to play with but apart from a few problems all has gone smoothly for us - well, we still need to deal with "things" on the forums. You can also see I run everything from the bookmarks toolbar - lot of forums now.

I also like the narrow screen, took a bit of getting used to after the wide screen of the previous forum set up, it allows me to sit my WMP in the space.

* The new text color encoding in code boxes takes a moment to get applied (text is initially light gray), and seems to be contributing to the scroll lag / delayed page loading. It's getting applied top to bottom, so that might help explain why scrolling back up is smoother than scrolling down while the page hasn't fully loaded yet.

* For the page navigation buttons, the 'Previous Page' icon is a left-facing arrow - should be < sign to match the 'Next page' icon ( > sign). Also, the pop-up text for that button should read 'Previous page'.

* The 'Jump to page' button (between page count text and 'Go to first page' button) needs a more obvious (non-black) icon and pop-up text.

It could be a cookie error on your part. That doesn't sound like a forum type of thing...

It's an "authorization mismatch" error that I get frequently when I try to post. It used to happen on the old forums once in a while as well, but it's happening to me a lot more now.

I'm running Safari if that makes any difference. :)

It might. Do you have any other browsers installed? That would tell you if it's Safari-specific or not.

There is an icon, it's just black.

Not really a bug, but it sure would be nice to get some better formatting for the 'Friends' part of your profile...

if you're not sure what I'm talking about or what the issue is, just check out my profile <_<

Thanks for the input, but it's not much of an icon. <_<
I edited my previous post to request a more obvious non-black icon.

Another bug to report...
When loading a page with a lot of code box text, I'm getting an unresponsive script warning dialog popping up listing the following js script:

http://www.gamesas.com/public/js/3rd_party/prettify/prettify.js:36

This appears to be partly responsible for the slow page loading and scroll lag until fully executed. From what I can tell, it's adding the text color coding to code boxes.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1067443-wip-new-merge-objects-program/page__st__120 is an extreme example that should cause the warning if you also try to scroll down the page (dragging the scroll bar before the page has completed loading can cause it).

[edit] just leaving that page to load will also cause the warning, so it's not strictly due to also trying to scroll the page.

I'm using Firefox v3.5.8

/snip

I have to agree with you here, the narrow screen has been pretty invaluable for iTunes/WMP.

It takes 48 mins to get past all your friends..why the hell would they have it like that?

I don't use smooth scrolling with Firefox and the forum very much stutters now.

I don't either. I've seen reports though that this is a problem with the more recent versions of Firefox in general, and I even get this kind of laggy stuttering on my own blog site which is hosted on my own network. I'm not sure the new forum design is to blame here.

I'll repeat stuff I mentioned in another thread, just in case:

* For the love of God, fluid layout please. There's at least 250 wasted pixels on either side of the forum display on my screen. It's making reading the actual threads far more difficult with all the clutter around them.

* The folder icons for "unread" vs "read" topics are almost indistinguishable. The shades of grey used are too close together. I suggest the "unread" icon be given something like a yellow background to stand out more.

* I'm forced to agree with folks that the darkened grey text over pitch black background is more difficult to read. The current scheme used in the Oblivion subforums is fine though, so this seems to be limited to the general discussion area as far as I've seen.

There's something wrong with the friends section. There used to be a section that showed people who added you as a friend but it's gone and they aren't shown in the current "Friends Pending Approval" section.
