Bug(s)

I have encountered what I believe to be two bugs in my current game of Skyrim, and was wondering if a solution existed for either one of them.

1. When I travel to Whiterun by cart, a horse will often be standing close to the cart when I arrive. Riding it does not count as stealing, but the horse will walk away from wherever I am if I dismount. I also recently noticed that I could simply take (not steal) one of the horses stabled outside Riften, without ever having bought a horse. Have I somehow received a 'free horse-riding' bonus?

2. No 'rested' bonuses (rested, well-rested, father's love) are ever applied to my character. He is not a vampire or wherewolf, is not overburdened, and is not ill. This is not just a matter of no message appearing when the bonus is applied; the effect does not appear in the 'active effects' list either.

I know the second bug has also been reported by others, but do not know if a solution was ever found.

My mod list (copied from plugins.txt) is as follows:

HearthFires.esm
Dragonborn.esm
portal2mod.esp
Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp
Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp
Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp
Birdsofskyrim.esp

There has been some confusion on this so I should note that horses you simply find and ride away with will not be your horse. They fast travel with you, fight alongside you, and you will not be punished for riding them.

However, they will not show you any particular loyalty and if left to their own devices will begin walking back to where they came from.

You've got the Lover's Stone active ???

It doesn't stack with the Rested / Well Rested / Lover's Comfort effects.
