I accidentally pick-pocketed the ammo from the Nightkin who comes at midnight to shoot up the brahmin in Novac, so now he just stands there, doing absolutely nothing, so I can't progress whatever quest or mission there is supposed to be. Unfortunately, my last save was a few hours back, and I want to see if there's any fix for this.

I just got to this quest and something similar is happening to me, If I follow him, he just stands there. I tried to attack him once, killed him and everyone in the town becomes hostile. I tried pickpocketing the holotape in his inventory, but when I talk to McBride (the farmer) the game won't acknowledge that I found out anything.

had the same thing happen to me, I waited until midnight so nobody was around town, then killed him while he was standing there. nobody turned hostile and got an update from the farmer.

I just ended up killing him as well, but I feel like there was more to it, or at least that there should have been, and I don't want to miss out >.<

Same thing happened to me. I didn't interact with him at all, he just walked back to behind the rocks. I even punched him a couple times to make him visible - he didn't attack me back! Finally I started shooting to kill, and instead of attacking me (he probably would have wiped the floor with me) he ran away. Eventually I followed him and killed him (with the help of a couple feral ghouls that decided to attack him instead of me), then I went and did the quest, and after all that I still can't tell the farmer what happened to his brahmin.

Oh, one thing: while I was waiting for him, I was hiding behind the tires in the brahmin pen. I don't think the Nightkin saw me. Was anyone else hiding?

He just stands there for me but when I attack him and kill him the townspeople dont attack me, they like me in Novac.

Ahh, I guess I just get used to expecting every little thing in the game to have a bit more to it (considering that they usually do). The holo-log made it seem like I could maybe interact with the nightkin. Oh well, nothing lost then I suppose.
