Bugout New Freezeville

Post » Mon Jan 12, 2009 10:53 pm

Hi Folks,

Just had to come join this forum to point out what I'm sure you already know. This game is imaginative, and interesting--BUT BUGGY BEYOND BELIEF! Not only that but it looks and operates just like Oblivion. Nice to see a company maximizing profits during an economic downturn by recycling the same tired engine and releasing it without any quality control. Congratulations users--YOU are QC for Bethesda. And volunteers at that! No, you are actually PAYING to do their QC for them! How dedicated of you...

-Sigh-

Not everyone has gone through the same pain you have allegedly gone through. I have experienced about 2 bugs so far. The reason it operates and looks like Oblivion because while Bethesda worked on their new in house engine for Skyrim they let Obsidian make a "spin-off" Fallout game to see what they could do. While I agree that it wasn't the most polished game ever released I still consider it the best game to come out in 2010.

I've had the game since release on PS3 and have not experienced a single crash freeze or bug. Also, yes this game uses the same engine as FO3 and maybe oblivion, never played it. It is made by obsidian but is published and iirc bug-tested by Bethesda.

I've had the 360 version since release day, suffered 2 freezes and a few enemies stuck under the map, which is far and beyond reasonable for a game of this size.
You no like??? You no play!!! :nono:

Why do people constantly play the engine card. <_< "Same tired engine"? Maybe they're re-using it because it works, and they wanted to spend more time and effort on building a game than on building a game engine. More games should recycle engines! Look at the wealth of games built with Source. That kind of chaotic joyous creativity doesn't happen when you force your developers to rewrite everything from the ground up every two years. The faster you can get your designers and writers and artists in there and making the actual game, and the less time you have to wait for "the landscape flickers and eventually causes a panic in the video driver (but only on Nvidia cards older than one year), and collision meshes are only selectively being loaded" to be resolved, the better.

Bugs, yes, lots of bugs.

posting your concerns in this format doesn't really get Bethesda's attention, and I wouldn't go insulting forum members, you purchased the game as well, therefore you supported them all the same....

and don't go trying to hate on me cuz I'm just as disappointed about the engine, the thing is is that it's no longer being used in future titles. therefore this thread and others like it are kind of pointless....

You should also know that Beth did NOT develop New Vegas.

And I blame you ToJKa--you just bent over and took it up the backside instead of complaining! Now get out there and RIP :-)

I only started playing Bethesda's games when Fallout 3 was released. Later bought Oblivion, and was frankly shocked at the amount of bugs that were left in the game after the official patches. Same with Fallout 3. Still, i encounter these bugs quite rarely in these games, and the games are good enough to justify buying them even with these bugs.

In New Vegas, there's currently really no bugs that bug me. Though i'm the type of person who doesn't start complaining until the bugs eat my house and burn my family :P So yes, i suppose you're right
