THIS IS RIDICULOUS!

They forget to test Fallout New Vegas?

Here is a pretty good writeup of some of the issues --> http://va1n.gamervoices.com/2010/10/20/fallout-new-vegas-who-left-all-these-bugs-here/

Sadly, game testers draw monetary compensation for their services.

Even with the scope of the game, there are too many significant bugs for this to just be happenstance or an occasional glitch. The game was released before it should have been. The only way Obsidian can save face is in how well they address these issues post-release.

Why are people always surprised in every game that there are bugs... is that ever a surprise?

I am not suprised there are bugs.

I am surprised to hear so many people having an experience like this though
"The number one issue I have seen so far in the game is the game ending bug Xbox 360 users are experiencing. This bug seems to happen about 10-12 hours into the game and goes a little something like this…You go to continue your saved game and the game says that it can’t find your DLC downloads, would you like to start the game without the DLC items? Well, yes, I would, thank you. Couple seconds go by and the game then says it can’t find your hard drive, even though it’s attached to the console and in working order for every other game you own. The game then crashes back to the menu for you to repeat this 10x before you realize that your save file is corrupt."

My question is if there are that many bugs (if there are they have to know about them) why didn't Bethesda push back the release date and have Obsidian fix them before release?

That's funny because i have read a lot of the bugs people are talking about and have yet to see any of the ones i have read. I have had pretty flawless game play so far, with the occasional graphics glitch and small bug, but nothing huge.

They had to sell it before holiday season. Otherwise, how do you explain that Microsoft certification team allowed this game through? Tie it in with the first DLC hitting xbox first, and you get a sour taste in your mouth. Sigh.

Exactly. That was more of a response to the people asking, "didn't they test this?" Of course they did, and they probably already know about most of the bugs. Bethesda needed to get the game out the door on-time. It's the same reason most other games are released with bugs.

Would think they would have found the bugs that makes it forget autosaves and quicksaves :/.

I personally haven't found that much bugs and my game hasn't frozen or crashed yet.

*puts on tinfoil hat*
The testers where probably a bunch of drunken Irish men.

That would be a problem with Steam Cloud, not with the game itself... turn that off (yes, you can do that) and it should stop acting up.

I pretty sure they are exaggerating about the bugs. Also, when NV will be released in Europe, we will receive an already updated version: http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/10/20/updates-on-fallout-new-vegas/

I've played the game for several hours and still didn't encounter any major bugs or glitches. Maybe it's because I play the pc version, who knows. ;)

Um not at all. The glitches are a joke. I just had another one. My companion decided to stand still and not follow me. even if i teleported. He wouldn't move. This is seriously ridiculous.

this. i have yet to have any major issues except when my game froze (twice) in the area around
Spoiler
Wolfhorn Ranch to the south.
other than that, i've had a pretty flawless release. however, reading about the game-ending glitch on the 360 is worrisome considering i recently hit the 10 hour mark and im playing on the 360. i'm now somewhat hesitant to play lol

Appreciate the response. Managed it out all the same. In my view though, it's a problem that occurs between the two entities [FONV and Steam Cloud]. Most likely some interaction that doesn't behave as anticipated with Steam Cloud, given that Steam Cloud doesn't have a problem with the other games it works with. It is still something that needed to be tested, just the same as if the problem were caused by a virtual store issue with Vista/Win7 if the game required/supported Vista/Win7.

To be fair, from what I understand, the option is no longer on by default for FONV, which is also a good thing.
