Bugs, Glitches, and other mishaps can go here 2

Post » Wed Aug 04, 2010 5:54 am

Just opening this thread to continue the logging process of people that have problems. The original thread can be found http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1131463-bugs-glitches-and-other-mishaps-can-go-here/

You want Bethesda/Obsidian to know? then stop creating a topic with the same issue another dweller has posted. It can all go here, and hopefully this gets a sticky.

Rules for posting Bugs, Glitches and other mishaps in this topic.

- Try your best to make sense of what you are experiencing in Fallout: New Vegas.
- No hateful comments to other dwellers and/or Bethesda and Obsidian Entertainment.
- A screenshot/photo or video would also be a great step forward into fixing the problems.
- Try not to go off track in what you are describing.

Let's try to keep most of it here and not all over the forums. Also don't expect a lot to be fixed with just one patch. This is a very big game running on an old game Engine. But by posting it here will give the Developers more to look into, if it can be fixed. :tops:

Remember that we are all experiencing bugs, glitches and other annoyances. No one here is more important than the next dweller. We need to communicate together for our 'voice' to be 'heard' :foodndrink:

Have patience fellow wastelanders! in time most of the issues in New Vegas will be fixed, one way or another.

(Also remember that Fallout: New Vegas is on the Xbox 360 and PC. PS3 can't be the only platform to get most of the attention. All platforms are equel in our quest to make this game more enjoyable.)

I scrolled through the first part of this thread, where someone had posted a problem similar to mine, and the thread was closed before anyone could answer it. My circumstances are a little different, but the outcome was the same...

I entered The Thorn and began the Bleed Me Dry mission. After coming back with the requested item, but before I gave it to Lucy, I placed a wager to see some critterd duke it out. But instead of fighting, they just stare at each other. I've given the matter a lot of time, but whenever I return to the arena there are two wasteland beasties frozen. Lucy, of course, refuses to talk to me until after the bout, so I can;t get my reward and continue the mission.

I've already tried a number of tactics, including the inevitable "kill everyone around you," but nothing works. Is this a glitch that will be remedied when the new, industrial-sized patch becomes available? Or should I just scratch it and move on?

My friend said the same thing happened to him. I didn't even make it into The Thorn because the game froze on me just before I entered. Other really unstable areas for me are New Vegas and Camp Hope. Will your problem be fixed? Who knows. I just want the freezing to be mostly wiped out. NV is almost as unplayable as F3 GOTY edition at the moment.

In my case it's simple , the game freeze anytime anywere ! I keep restarting my system , and wonder if it will do any damage on it , hope not .. Just fixing the freezing issue at first , would be a major accomplishment !!

I guess I'll post what I've encountered here as well. I wouldn't hold your breath for a sticky, though. The mods around here really just take care of disciplinary actions and post damage control in whiney threads.

- Ant Nectar addiction is incurable.
- That Gun isn't affected by cowboy.
- Hitching, Freezing and slowdown.
- Ammo +DAM is calculated after base DAM vs DT, thus why EW svck.
- Merchant's scripts break making them not restock.
- Lt. Hayes disappears after "I fought the law".
- If you talk to any rangers involved in Raul"s quest without him present, the conversations leading up to his quest will no longer trigger. I'm 100% sure in Ranger Andy's case.

All bugs are active in last update on ps3:

- Walking out of the radio shack crashes me every time.
- After talking to yes men and being asked to "protect" the president my team-members dissapear and wont come back (ever! (possitive about boone and rex).
- Every NRC person I come close to said "I wish for a nuclear winter".. EVERYONE OF EM!!
- If the president gets shot, all the people listening to speech will just stand there.. no screams, no "omg the horror the president was shot/killed".. its like the AI just dies.
- the sniper that is supposed to show up at one of the towers randomly does not spawn, but the presidents head still gets blown to pieces.

- The mission with the farmer in the "the luxe" casino; After saving the kid in the basemant and then confronting the chairmen about their human flesh eating habits:
Everyone at the table will just sit there, no toast (of the poisonous wine) no talking about human flesh.. they just sit there.
when walking in with (i think its Ian) everyone at the table will attack you no questions asked.
Ian's father (the farmer) does not "see" his son being with you so you cant complete its quest.

- Ed-e's and Rex's part in the ending sequence (when finishing the game) goes too fast, can only read the first two lines before it skips to the next person, and i am a fast reader.
- Ed-e randomly makes foot-print walk sounds, kinda funny.
- The croocked card player at the complex near the robot-weapon trader(gunrunners) (small sidequest) randomly has its head exploded when you find the crooked cards in his desk.
- At "Gomorrah" when going to the courtyard, Rex randomly spawns mile-high in the air and falls down, dying when he hits the floor.
- One male NRC member at the airport has a female voice (he/she is often found in one of the tents).
- Boone was not able to heal imself, but i was not able to apply stimpacks on him.
- find the platinum chip at ceasar's fort hill quest does not "complete" when you got the platinum chip.
- your followers dissapear when you kill Mr. house.
- When following the tutorial quest, you come across a man telling you that his girl is at a radio tower,
but when I get there, the girl is nowhere to be found.

- After taking away Boones hat, and giving it back he does not want to follow you for a few days.
- After saying goodbye to Rex and Boone, the super mutant at Jacobstown still does not want to join me.
- Not being able to take over New Vegas with Yes man, and force/convince alliances with NCR and the legeon (forcing NRC to go away, while.. if it was me, I would have said "sure stay, but the strip is mine").
- Mrs house dissapears after killing MR house, not being able to give her any more snowglobes also not able to put them in the snowglobe holder in the presidential suite.
- After killing Ceasar, if you re-enter fort-Hill new enemies will spawn, allowing you to loot drop endlessly.
- No merchant sells explosive mods, but they are mentioned on the loading screen.
- Vats not working after loading.
- The "Human" ghoul that stays behind after the mission where u help a super irradiated ghoul and its followers into space, does not react to the fact he is left behind.
(there is no further communication with him, so you cant ask him how he feels about being left behind/being a human)

- The NCR people at the Heleon solar plant randomly attack you, even if you are actively doing the quest to fix the plant.
(Had NCR armor equiped, and gave them no reason to attack me).

- One of the empty rooms at Novac ALLWAYS crashes me.
- Massive FPS drops about 3 times a minute, each minute.
- Loads and loads of crashes.

My two cents.

My only really game killing glitch so far is that the display is super dark, except for every menu and the pip boy show up at normal brightness levels. I've tried cranking the brightness to no avail and I have also removed all my armor and weapons to see if that was possibly the issue but it did not solve the issue. Hopefully the new upcoming patch can rectify this.

Okay, might as well contribute.

Any NCR facility (mostly camp Forlorn Hope and McCarren) that is marked with a Military Star on the map has the chance to cause massive slowdown which often ends with the game freezing.

Again, NCR facilities marked with a military star on the map and the entrance to The Strip can cause the game to get stuck at the loading screen.

ED-E becoming useless after upgrading him. Will move very very slowly once an Enemy has been detected. Beating him up or Fast Traveling fixes the mobility problem until combat is initiated again. Firing and rehiring him doesn't solve the issue.

In camp searchlight the pipboy light might become extremely bright. Turning light on and off fixes this.

NPCs outside of a cell seem to be unable to act. Best example would be Powder Gangers vs NCR in the prison fight. The Powder Gangers in the Barracks wouldn't join the fight until I entered the Barracks. (A lot of them were crowded at the door, others suddenly jumped out of their beds)
same with the NCRs in Eddie's office. They went in and I waited a day outside. Only when I entered did they begin to fight.
I saw the same at the Crimson Caravan Company. The place was empty. I did wait a few days but nobody was there. When I entered the Barracks, everyone was crowded at the door.

That's all I came across on the PS3.

Quest: Oh My Papa

We're supposed to speak with every character we see in these games because it may lead somewhere. I did that but now I'm afraid to do it. I spoke with Papa Khan early on before being given the quest Oh My Papa and evidently used up the speech option that would allow me to negotiate an alliance with the Great Khans and NCR. Now that I've been given the quest by the NCR, the speech option with Papa Khan doesn't come back and Colonel Moore won't even talk about it so the NCR path ended there. The other paths don't appeal to me so game over.

i only have a problem with entering the strip and getting stuck on a black screen. i think it is related to taking on the "the white wash" quest.

Hi, I just joined the forum because it seemed the only way to report glitches in the game.

I started playing it this weekend even though I bought it right when it came out. I had a hard time controlling my addiction to FO3 so I assume it'd be the same with FNV but GOOD LORD!! It's sooo glitchy, you can hardly play it! I had already read previous threads where gamers complain about all the technical problems that the game has but I never thought it would be that bad.

Besides all the things that everyone complains about such as lagging, freezing, etc. I noticed that in some places the pipboy doesn't display at all. I press O but the pipboy doesn't come out, only the screen turns blurry and if I press other buttons it makes sounds as if you were browsing it. I pressed O again to "hide" the pipboy (that didn't even show up in first place), moved a few steps forward, hit O again and there it was!! That happened to me at least three times in different places so it's not quite a coincidence.

Also, in FO3 I made my character's skin plain white (like snow) and it was fun to watch her running around in her naughty nightwear. In FNV I tried to recreate her but the scripting for the character creator screwed up and now when my char wears naughty nightwear, you can see from her neck down a complete different skin tone. So the char creator changed the skin tone only from the neck up as if she was wearing clown make-up or a white mask. From the neck down she's natural skin toned. I know it's a minor bug but now it's not funny seeing her in naughty nightwear, it just bothers me.
If this error occured, I'm sure there are other problems with the char creator.

Anyone make it into the Hoover Dam office section? I went in there today and, wow! My whole game slowed down to a laggy crawl the likes of which I have never, ever experienced on any PS3 game. Took me like 10 minutes just to turn around and get back outside. I'm almost dreading completing "For the Republic pt. 2" because you have to keep going in that section to report to Col. Moore there.

I have a -1 Agility effect due to Metal Armor that won't go away, even if I unequip everything. I think this effect originated with the preorder bonus pack Metal Armor.

My issue is I can't use hotkey to change my weapons without the game freezing. I'm on my second playthrough at level 10, just finished Boone's first mission in Novac. I went to do Ranger Andy's mission at Ranger Station Charlie and that's when the I started freezing, but it's not just there I loaded my save back in Novac before I even go to Station Charlie and go to change my weapon with a hotkey and the game freezes....I tried everything I could think of, including deleting game data and redownloading the patch and reinstalling but it continued to happen.

Sorry guys - I don't have time to read through every post.

Here are the list of bugs I have encountered and/or am still having.

- Lady Jane - I am supposed to finish the quest, Debt Collector and I am not able to talk to Lady Jane. Every time I approach her and hit X to talk, it zooms in on her a bit, but zooms right back out. No dialogue ever takes place.

- Mysterious Stranger Perk - when the mysterious stranger comes in and does his dealing of death, the camera pans out to show him - but for too long. I have died a couple of times while he has been dealing death because Cazadores are still attacking me and I'm not able to do anything during this time.

- Game Freeze - this is the most common problem I have. My game freezes up several times every time I play it. It's extremely annoying. I'll just be walking along and whammo! - my guy stops moving, I can still hear the game; I've even let it sit for 10 minutes before and it never recovered.

- ED-E: I am unable to do anything with ED-E. I went on with my game after Primm - once I was able to repair ED-E, I took him to Gibson Scrap Yard, but Lady Gibson doesn't have any dialogue options for him, so I'm not sure what to do with him at this point.

I hear they're supposed to be releasing a new patch - but when? I took vacation this week in hopes of getting in some serious NewVegas time and these bugs are making it oh-so-not-enjoyable.

Ok. Well, I have 2 major bugs that I seem to have encountered. On my first playthrough, I recruited Arcade Gannon, got all of the "trust points", and still have yet to get him to give me his quest! Also, he won't even join my "party" if I have ED-E with me. On my second playthrough, in hopes to not run into any glitches, Arcade Gannon has gone MIA.. (I went into the luck 38, noticed he wasn't with me, went out back to the strip, and he was gone.) Also, I can't even recruit another companion into my "paty" because it still counts me as having a humanoid companion. Now, I have routed the power from Helios One to everywhere, so he shouldn't have disappeared from that. And I also am wityh the NCR, so I don't understand.

Sad thing is,

I'm pretty sure they were aware of most of these before they released the game.

Return to Fallout: New Vegas
