I would like to see a house built of dead foxes. Perhaps it may deter them in future from knocking down your house...if they knew it was made of their relatives.

I wish my friend, I wish....

Unfortunately dead bodies of any kind can NOT be stacked. I tried to build a house of companions...out of companions. It didn't work. You could make a Fox pelt house although pelts don't really like to be stacked...they usually fall over if 4 high.

You could try alot of dwarven metal, most of that stuff is heavy.

Have you thought about using an actual house as the frame? Like Anise's cabin. You'd merely provide the outside layer, like giving the place a facelift.

Alas...well here is to dead foxes and their pelts :foodndrink: I guess being under 4 high would be okay if you were, you know, stunted.

I did. My only issue with that is you can only lift so high so building above 8 or so feet becomes imposable BUT I was eying up a trapper cage, functional door!!!.....but I don't remember where it was.

I really wish that item manipulation is like in Morrowind. You drop things, they stay there.
On another note, this thread should get a sticky.

I'm still laughing at the fox that knocked over the fort, lol.

Wouldn't barrels be easier to stack? And probably won't fall over as easily?

Yeah, dwemer stuff is nice and heavy. It's also easy to get in large numbers. I collected dozens of cogs before I realized I can't put them in a smelter. Solid dwemer metal is extremely heavy too.

I had considered building things from dwemer ingots just because they're so shiny, but Skyrim has some of the worst physics-object handling since Doom III.

smelt it down to ingots and use em like legos?

WHAT!? If its outside it will disappear?! ARE YOU SERIOUS??

I'm pretty sure that objects you drop in the wild do not disappear. You can even drop junk in dungeons, its just containers which will recycle your items.

As for making a house out of junk, this is a fine tradition in Bethesda games. I remember some guy made a house out of cigarette cartons in Fallout 3. And there was one guy who used some kind of duplicated items in Oblivion, books was it? cant remember.

In Skyrim, all objects tend to get bashed around a lot no matter how heavy they are, dragon bones and gold bars can be kicked around like footballs, they just make a heavy clunking noise. You could probably create a house out of bars with shields for a roof, but it wouldnt be very practical to use it.

Now that's a good idea. That cabin is mostly made out of holes, could just cover the entire place in shields cheese wheels and have a cosy little home.

By all means my friend. I really wish I had a save file right before that moment.

I was alone in the wilderness, I picked up another ebony shield and prepared its placement (about 5 feet away). I heard what I thought was a cry to my left, as I turned I was greeted with a curious fox. He just stood there for a moment as if he was admiring my creation. Usually such creatures would feel the cold end of my blade but I thought to my self, hey he is just a little baby fox, what could he possibly do, I am sure he will go about his merry way. I drop my shield so I could be weapon ready just in case....no sooner, the bastard darted at speeds that only bullets could match!!!! He didn't even pay attention that there was a door, he went though one wall and out the other wall....the house blasted apart as if a billiard game had just started.

The odd thing is I don't know what happened to the Fox. I am not sure if the contact plus all the action deloaded him or what....I couldn't find him. I tell you this, Every Fox I come across, no matter what, will be slayed!

I read that and I laughed so hard i cried lol....Good luck man i hope you make it!

All right guys This isn't a very good picture but hey its a picture.

http://s1189.photobucket.com/albums/z436/EnigmaBiz2/?action=view¤t=IMAG0234.jpg

Description:

I found a nice flat area with a view and have started construction of the first wall (with no support). The picture was taken off my tv with a phone and sent by email (in case you wanted to know.

Something like this WILL take about 3 hours to do. Why? you ask, because you can't control the direction of the piece when you drop it, lets say you drop 100 ingot, this will drop all around you and when you pick them up the direction they were in when dropped is the direction they stay in. What I do is grab 1 piece and push other pieces straight, this makes it a ton easier but actually placing them is even more time consuming.

Ingot would be awesome to use but I don't have this kinda time everyday....I need to find bigger items.

Thank you and thanks everyone for your continued support on this most epic quest.

Some people may say this is dumb and I would agree but ask yourself this question: What would you do if a fox knocked your home down? give up? or build a crappy house out of buckets, baskets with a floor of jewels?.......yea, I might give up too.

Update: 12-12

Attempted a building site at a cleared out Giant camp, I only did this so I could have a permanent marker on the map and didn't want to worry about removing my custom marker again. Went to town for some more Items and returned to a destroyed base, 2 mammoths and a giant. They were all hostile, the odd thing (aside from the crazy respawn time) was that the giant had 2 bucket in his inventory...I was using upright buckets for my base and I thought to myself that maybe the giant stole them from my base. Shouldn't it have been marked stole? damn giant.

Update: 12:13

I had an Idea today. When you fast travel you are sent to a specific area. I am going to build on that spot and see if I end up inside. I may make it with no doors so I should arrive to my destination trapped. we shall see.

I hope to have pictures and video's this weekend.

I just don't get all the complaining. I think any game that the player can still use their imagination = a great game. Some dude made a bacon helmet a REAL bacon helmet...you don't do that for crappy games. I guess you could.....but still.

I like the fast travel idea. Try building it next to a landmark that doesn't have hostile things next to it; like the nightingale cave. It's in a nice little area surrounded by mountains.

Your new building site should be on an island. West of solitude on the coast there are a few small islands with no wild life that are also very near permanent bookmarked locations. I think this is the best solution!

I was just there yesterday scouting that area. I think you are right though, I just need to find a different building material one that isn't so time consuming.

Update: 12-13

Fast travel prison was a semi - success. kettle walls on one side basket walls on the other, back and front were built with iron ingot and iron shield roof. I did not take into account how tall I was on horse back..As soon as I fast traveled we busted the house down like Mr. Kool-Aid OOHH YEAA! I would say a good 40% of the item flew off into the sky. The rest of it landed scattered about covering a decent distance. One of the shields actually got stuck on the horses neck, almost looked like those cones you put on dogs. It did eventually disappear.
