Building bug post-update patch?

Post » Wed Feb 03, 2016 11:12 am

So much has improved - I can see what settlers are doing what. However when I come to build I now can't rotate the items like I used to be able to. It was the F key I'm sure, but now it does nothing.

Anyone know if this is a bug, unique to me or has the rotate function changed to something else?

Rotate has always been LMB/RMB by default. If you've changed your controls...there's no telling what that may have done. For whatever reason, Bethesda games have always been finicky about certain buttons being re-assigned.

Try deleting the control config file manually, then verify your cache to have the game re-create it in pure default form. Again, it should be LMB/RMB to rotate objects in Build Mode.

I thought you were talking console controls. Do you just mean left and right arrows? Never heard them referred to as what you describe them. In any case I can't test now as I'm on a bus!

Your left and right click on the the mouse to rotate items. It's like that from release.

Left Mouse Button / Right Mouse Button. By default this rotates objects to be placed in Build Mode. If not, try using whatever your default buttons are for "Attack" and "Aim down sights / Block".

Also, for precision placement, hold down "E" by default, and you can slide objects around laterally. Nice for precision placement. They really need to document this stuff.

Didn't know about the E trick, good tip.

Never used the mouse buttons whilst building, just accidentally found early on the F button rotated things so didn't think to try this on other buttons.

I'm sure left-click/right-click will do the job.
