There's an interesting article over at GeForce.com talking about building a Crysis 2 PC for under $600! The goal being to run Crysis 2 on advanced at 1920x1080 while maintaining over 30FPS, check out the links below for more information;

A damn 8800 and low end dual core can max the game easily at the levels you are suggesting. :|

Talon I respect you man but plz do not hijack or start a flame war in this thread, otherwise it will be locked down. This thread should be about squeezing information from crytek

What? I speak the truth. An 8800GT and a Core Two Duo can run the game easily at the levels suggested.

I don't understand why nvidia suggests a 550 Ti for any other reason than to sell hardware, and that i3 also is unnecessary.

Sure, the 8800 won't run DX11, but we know Crytek didn't really focus on that, and the 550 Ti isn't exactly going to be crunching out any real tesselation without huge lag.

That "Crysis 2 rig" is nothing but a marketing tactic. Anybody and everybody who built a gaming PC since 2007 can run the game just fine, there is no reason to upgrade.

A 550Ti is faster than a GTX260 so an 8800GT is MILES behind the performance of a 550Ti. You're kidding yourself if you think an 8800GT will run the game "easily" at 1920x1080.

Everyone with a common sense can figure out that you unlikely need a Crysis1-rig to run a game that primarily targets consoles.

He's right, I run the game pretty well with a GTX460 and a Core Duo 2 @ 3ghz but there are times when FPS dips to low 20's.

I think this is one of the 1st games that I have played that could actually make good use of a Quad cpu. My GFX card is barely hitting 70% whilst playing whereas my CPU is 100% on both cores all the time.

I concur with Adam 550>460>260>8800. I am happy I stayed with nvidia. Crytek games run well on nvidia. Jac I think you cpu might be bottleneck.
Can I haz some more info

Definitely the CPU. I was thinking about getting hold of a cheap Quad from eBay for £60'ish but overall the game performs well enough for me with only very momentary dips. Mostly when Orbital Strikes are going off.

From my experience I can confirm that Nvidia's 8800 is doing alright with Crysis1 and Crysis2 aswell. I have simply a 3.0 ghz Dual Core as processor and Crysis2 seems to perform similar to Crysis1. It is only remarkable that Crysis1 is a game with a lot more stuff going on on screen.

I can't believe NVidia actually dumped tons of money into this game. If this is the future, you might as well just buy a console and forget PCs. Looking at videos, theirs hardly any difference between the two. So much for NVidia thinking they were going to make tons of money with this game "pushing the limits". I bet their banging their heads against their desks right about now. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

I agree with you logan but I am hopeful that crytek might still have something up their sleeves..... I also agree there is hardly any visual difference in demo on pc and xbox. xbox is $300. PPL should have a reason to spend $600 on pc.

The article says that there were only 3 settings and no custom settings. The article also failed to mention the dx version. And is that the final version they tested on. If yes, that is worrying
