Yes and its going to be epic but I haven't had enough time to pick out the parts yet. Will probably wait a couple more months to see what pops up. I'm curious about the AMD 8-core processors coming out next month.

Ewwww pre-built PC. Better to buy the parts online and put it all together when it all arrives by mail. Plus it's fun putting your new gaming rig together.

I'm sure it is fun to the people that actually know how to do that -_-

Go on Youtube. People have made video showing you how it's done. Trust me, it's not hard. Most hardware comes with instructions too.

You shouldn't trust Youtube to tell you how to handle $700+ worth of hardware.

Well based on one video no, but it's a good way to see how to install a CPU ect.

Alot of manufacturesatures also do video's for their hardware.

Here is the best guide that I have seen so far:

Sometimes it's a lot cheaper to buy pre-built and i'm not talking about a Dell. I'm talking about custom gaming rigs

I'd be much more comfortable doing such a thing with someone who actually knows how to do it helping me. Aren't there some websites that put together custom PCs and ship them to customers? Would anyone at a local Best Buy/other Electronics store (Yes, I know, most know practically nothing and probably wouldn't bother helping someone put together a custom PC rather than buying one of theirs, but there must be someone somewhere.) be able to assist a person with this for a fee?

Considering my accident proneness with technology (and survival of said tech being only sheer incredibly stupid luck), I'd much rather do what I've always done and just buy a decent rig like the one I linked above. Different strokes for different folks.

Get some solid state drives and some DDR3 2000+ RAM. The game will run like melted butter.

Thinking of upgrading from my nVidia GeForce 9600 GT to a nVidia GeForce GTX 560. They're already down in the $220 range, and I expect 'em to be a tad cheaper by November. Might even plug in 4 more gigs of RAM if I feel like I need it later on, though I doubt I will.

some DDR3 2000+ RAM.

Can you explain the benefit of 2000+ RAM?

My understanding is that if you have a SB CPU, you don't need this type of premium memory to overclock it, and any benefit is almost negligible.

Since cost of 24GB 1333MHz RAM is about half the price of 24GB 1600 MHz RAM, I'm thinking of buying the cheaper 1333 MHz flavor.

Last time I built a pc was for Battlefield 2 back in 2005, I gues with BF3 coming, and Skyrim making a badass PC is THE option.

GTX590, but if the 600 series are release before October, maybe ill get one of those
12GB RAM
I'm stuck with the processor, are the Intel 2600k any good?

That's the heart of my new PC, Fans and HDDs are easy to buy.

First, explain the benefits of 24GB of RAM for a videogame.

Definitely no benefit for gaming LOL. The most I have ever seen any game use is around 3 GB or so.

I need it for video editing apps and working with large outdoor advertising files in Photoshop.

Not planning to upgrade. Ill be surprised if my computer cant run it Skyrim on max, especially with the small resolution I use (1440x900).
