Building a Singular Settlement: The Slog

Post » Tue Dec 08, 2015 2:24 am

I've been playing through Fallout 4 looking a the perfect place to build a large tower/fortress for my character to operate out of, and after sometime I decided I would like to use the Slog. I haven't done any of the Settlement quests thus far, and I'm much more interested in building a singular building and maybe building settlements later.

My question is, do you HAVE to start in Sanctuary with that band of morons, or can you start up a "Settlement" anywhere? I've noticed some Settlements you discover you can start building right away - but I was wondering if anyone knew anything specific about the Slog.

Thanks for the help guys, I'd appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

I've done a bunch of the settlement quests so far, just did the slog yesterday and immediately fell in love with it, built a huge house on the roof and fixed up all the fences, made it into my own fortress, have a blooming ghoul/human community of farmers and traders there now, deathclaw tried to attack, was immediately surrounded and forced to retreat into the small building out back where it was turned into swiss cheese through the windows by a mob of angry farmers.

It's going well.

I use this site: http://www.fallout4map.com/

Any that say "clear area" can be settled easily...if you can kill the things there.

And, most that say "radiant quest" can be gotten by just talking to a settler there and clearing some other area of raiders, super-mutants, or ghouls.

You don't even have to ever talk to the minutemen to get most of the settlements.
