Before everyone yells and screams about it not being possible you should know I am tailoring the suggestion from pc to console and blah blah. This is not a suggestion for a geck on consoles. Say that three times to yourself and take a deep breath. I know how riled up y'all can get about that. This is just to see if any kind of building has any support, to show if anyone else likes it. I realize console users (I play on both) will get the short end of the stick no matter what suggestion we make. With that disclaimer out of the way down to business. As usual with my suggestions I give a short question and then a section solely dedicated to the details of the suggestion.
-=Short Hand Question=-
Would you like to make your own home or limited other structures depending on what you play skyrim on. Even if it would just be a DLC, patch, or whatever means they used to put it in?
If you said yes, would you like to build it yourself or hire NPC's to build for you and you pick out from the typical menu they would give you?
If you hire an NPC to build assume that over a realistic period of time they would make the device and every week or whatever the timeframe may be you can look at there progress and see them working on it during work hours.
-=Expanded Information=-
This is only possible features of a proposed building segment to skyrim.
-Collect wood, ore, gold, and other building resources to develop your own infrastructure such as a player home, signs, portable bed rolls, candles, NPC homes, several miscellaneous items, ammunition, manna wells, mammoth transport, gondolier stations, shops, and whatever else they could come up with that could fit within the game without causing too much fps drop or what ever possible negative effect like too much fun?
-Govern the town you built around your player home. (limit the number of buildings by water/food source, and access to natural resources to make it more game friendly and as a bonus realistic and drawing an role play aspect for experienced players.)
- Recruit NPC's, Guards, Shop keepers, farmers, transporters, fishermen, miners, loggers, and citizens to live with you near your player home village.
-Collect tax/rent, help town's folk with random generated quest like killing jobs, courier work, maintenance, loaning money, debt collector, ect.
- Receive discount from in town shop keepers if they like you.
More after we get some feedback.
-=Inspiration=-
Well I played Morrowind for one. After you complete so many of the main house quest you get a player home with guards and shops and it's a nice little outpost with several small little quest that are pretty fun. There were several mods for them that went WAY beyond what was intended. One made the telveani (sp?) tower a huge city sprawling that hill, it was beautiful.
Besides that my own thread gave me the idea. The one about should we rebuild destroyed cities.
Pros
Look at all those features.
-could draw in new players which is more money for beth which means better games for us Bethesda fans.
-Could bring back players who quit Bethesda games after the oblivion disappointment.
-Brings an emotional reach toward the player and drags him into the plight of these villages. he walks through there shoes in other words.
-Greatly improves upon the crafting system in the game and sets it on top of all other RPG's like two worlds two, and Dragon age, ect.
name more?
Con's
-Possible drag on FPS.
-Slower loading unless you download the game and clear your cache every week like your supposed to.
-(too fun? might cause you to play too much elder scrolls and completely stop eating and die of starvation.)
