I don't really mind anything else around this subject, but I would like them to return to the architecture of Fallout 2 when designing the settlements. The round-cornered white buildings of Vault City really helped with the mood, for example.

So things like themed cities?

A ramshackle fort(no, not like megaton) of which some groups would fight over, either for its good location or its resources/supplies(ammo, armor, food, water and perhaps some sort of energy/fuel?)

Doesn't sound too bad. So it's almost like the car fort in 3?

Kind of like the one in Mad Max 2? If so then that would be cool to see.

I agree with the people that talked about the buildings around craters should be completely destroyed. But yeah if the setting was in Chicago, and assuming the Sears or Willis tower (whatever you want to call it) wasn't destroyed I would love to climb that! Anyway I want to see suberbs villages around. Places like the Hub and a lot of places like the Glow and Mariposa haha.

That's another thing that bothered me about the recent Fallouts (particularly FO3). You'll find great places (usually strategically so) that are either abandoned or lightly defended that people would be fighting over in reality.

I'd like a tribe who's houses are built on the side of a hugenormous cliff.

Isn't that a bit counter-productive, like Arefu?

No, since they're built on the cliff they don't have to worry about wildlife as they're out of the way from them.
And there will be lots of bridges crossing between the cliff houses as opposed to Arefu that had one way in.
Besides, it'd make their tribe more unique design-wise as opposed to Great Khans, Arroyo, Primitive Tribe, Punga Tribe and the Zion tribes.

Or they could just occupy old cliff cities made by native americans. Also I want to see old Enclave and military outposts. Also I would really like to see a Subway Town type city. Maybe they could have a pre-war city that was really advanced and built into the side of a cliff.

Skyscraqers would make better dungeons than Vaults. They be be quite similar though, what with the different offices and multiple levels. The lighting though would be quite beautiful. Imagine exploring the Sears Tower in the earlier hours of the morning with the suns rays coming in through the broken windows and dilapidated walls. A welcome change when compared with the dark, damp vaults.

Good yes better.... No. Vaults got that vibe that hey something from the clise past happened here and has more backstory. A skysraqer either would have current factions in it or monsters in it like in lonesome road.

If there were any surviving skyscraqers, it could be that access to the upper floors was cut off by damage in the attack but could be accessed again with the proper application of know-how. Now you'd think that some competent persons would have gotten to them before you, but a penthouse hideout with a view of the wastes would certainly be cool.

I would like to see some skyscraqers, yes. I don't think they've all fallen down, more like there are just skeletons of them left and some are even leaning towards other skyscraqers or buildings. I want some cityscape that looks like in the http://images.wikia.com/fallout/images/a/a8/Fo1_Intro_Bakersfield_OR.png or like http://images.wikia.com/fallout/images/a/a3/Fo1_Necropolis_Bad_Ending.png or even like the http://images.wikia.com/fallout/images/6/62/Fallout_Online_concept_art.jpg

Yup, every skyscraqer would definitely not be completely gone, like the Freedom Tower in NYC, that's been built to last awhile. If a nuke it NY. the skeleton from that would definitely still be there.

Well with Wall Street and tons of metro tunnels, I doubt anything in Manhattan would even remain, and if a nuke went off near it, it would just melt through anything we have built. And there would probably be more than one nuke.

But other smaller cities would probally have some structures intact.

I would like to see rest stops for merchants, they should be built around pre-war rest stops. I would also like to see more abandoned pre-war roadblocks like in Fallout 3. And more scrap house's using planes and trailers. A tank bunker would be interesting as well.
