BuildingsStructures you want to see in the next Fallout game

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 1:03 am

Here we are, a simple thread just asking for your opinion on future buildings and structures you want to see in the next Fallout. Now I know that there is no official setting yet but I'm just asking what you guys want to see in the next Fallout.

This is the second thread for this now.

Skyscraqer "dungeons" with spectacular views of the outside from within.

Stadiums used for gladiator fights to the death against other humans, deathclaws, albino radscorpions, cazadores, nightstalkers, etc.

Stadium structures? Like the one arena at The Fort in FONV?

Not like that one, like a football stadium or baseball stadium being used for brutal games of fights to the death.

Like there would be a set time everyday where the games would go on, complete with a big crowd and fireworks.

You could participate in them or just simply watch them and place bets. Just like the Thorn. And some guy on the mic announcing people and announcing you as undefeated, like in the Pitt.

I would love to see that right there.

I would love to see "Lairs" become more prominent. Maybe 2 or 3 for each type of creature. Next gen graphics rendering decay and death...worm infested Centaur lairs, violent deathclaw lairs, distinct mirelurk lairs, etc. Make these unique and different, too.

Also...different visuals for different vaults. This is almost surely going to happen, at least hopefully. Undergrowth and distorted plantlife creeping back into the fray.

A good landmark would be a football stadium a

I, if you have seen previous posts by me, and read my story, (link in my signature), you'll know that I really, oh so badly want Fallout 4 to be set in New York City.

Now NYC could open up some pretty awesome environments for the player to interact with. With the obvious dungeon crawling being moved to Skyscraqers, couldn't you just imagine looking out a shattered window onto the skeletal remains of one of the biggest trade cities on the East Coast. Now lets not forget Central Park, CP would allow for a good center piece for New York, the rolling, grey hills covered in dead trees and the many ball parks rusted away. You could have unique animal enemies in the park thanks to the decay of the Central Park Zoo's gates and fences.

Now, there's also things like an idea for a military outpost or town on the last remaining leg for one of the bridges with the roads just sticking out on either side. I'd so lovingly like it to be called Brooklyn's Cross.

Let's also not forget Lady Liberty. Liberty Island would be so amazing to see in the post apocalypse, maybe a town has been set up inside the statue, intertwining huts and ladders and bridges reaching the head of lady liberty, which would be the Mayor's office. Also, Ellis Island, the place where many pilgrims came through into America, would also be a bustling town or a cool "fight your way out" style building.

Also, the Enclave could be in the game, because of how close DC is to NYC, they could survive, just barely, secretly running another government.

I'd like the next game to be set in San Francisco, so stuff like the Trans America Building, Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, etc.

I wouldn't want lairs galore, what would be my reason to go into those places? IRL, what the hell would be my reason to go underground into these places?

I doubt there are any worthwhile rewards at each forsaken [censored] place underground.

So I for one, do not want to see moar underground lairs and "dungeons." This isn't Skyrim, it's the American civilization in ruins.

I'd like to see a carnival style theme park.

More towns and villages with more friendlies that we can choose if they die or live.

I loved Megaton, so I would like to see moar cities sprawling with a lot moar life.

Also a NYC setting would need to be on the next generation console, for it's much too epic for just PS3 or Xbox 360 alone.

This here is why gaming is best on PC. Also, if they were to release it for modern consoles, and this is just sudden thoughts, New York (basically half of the map) could be separated by a gate half-way through one fo the bridges, and boats, like a small dingy, not a steamboat or cruise line or something.

Also, subways could be re-introduced so for the people that want Fallout's traditional dungeon crawling, they could have that.

And to expand on the whole idea of a stadium death match arena, I can imagine an old sports stadium (most likely a football stadium) being torn up by explosives, creating a very trench like battle between to sides, Red & Blue (or something along those lines). The stadium could have been made this way by a slaver faction that pit slaves against slaves, or do a gladiatorial like fight between a slave and a armor clad slaver.

Maybe more successful than Vault City? If a vault did make a settlement I hope it is bigger than vault city.

They'd need some other way to generate power than their vaults generator, that was the reason VC couldn't expand.

I assume that people from a vault are accustomed to electricity, so if they require it, a bigger vault city needs a bigger power source. But you're right, power isn't necessary for a settlement to thrive.

They could have an experiment where they took a whole bunch of rich people and made the vault have electricity for 5 years or something and gave them little things to strive, and it would help see if people could actually rebuild after the apocalypse.

NYC, let you explore into part of Jersey as well due to proximity. There is a ton you can do with that area.

Like exploring in central Park and fighting mutated creatures (if they didn't die) that escaped from Central Park Zoo. A slaver outpost/town could have arisen within Bronx Zoo/The Bronx. Also Small pockets of civilization could have risen up on the streets of NYC, like in Times Square, Battery Park, Rockefeller Center, and Columbus Circle.

I,d like beth to put realistic unique buildings and skyscraqers that have debris falling down onto the sidewalks( if it were in the NYC of course), but im not sure if it should be in NY because if there were an actual nuclear apocalypse NY would have been leveled 5 times over, there would be no more new york because its such a huge target, but whatever its a game they can do and say whatever they want.

This is one thing I have contention with for Bethesda. They shouldn't do or say what they want because, though they do own the Fallout franchise, there were three games previous and one after which were not made by them and all stayed as accurate as possible. I still hate the reason Todd Howard gave for why DC isn't completely leveled even though it was supposedly the hardest hit city in the US, "it would be boring playing a game in a desert". He showed a clear misunderstanding of what makes a Fallout when he said that.
Sorry for ranting, just had to get that said.

OT: I would like to see more man made cities and towns, but nothing rundown and decrepit like Megaton, something more like Red Rock Canyon. Some proof that people are making there own stand in the wastes without living out of the skeletons of the past.

agreed on both points.

Seeing something like a junktown or shady sands for instance would be good, even hub....but now we come into the problem of what fits properly on the map, and this is why a node system would be better.
