Bull Netches appearing more frequently

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 6:34 pm

I did a search and found out some of what I was wondering. Basically, since 5th or 6h level, I've noticed that when I slay a creature (cliffracer, kwama forager, nix hound, whatever) more and more bull netches have been spawning in their place. I'm using the Morrowind Overhauled 2.0.1 mod compilation and left the Morrowind Code Patch at the default configuration. I'm wanting to know if I should just go on a bull netch hunting party and if I do what, if any, are the consequences? Or should I just leave them be? Basically I've just been running around gaining skill points so I get triple 5's for the first 10 levels and then I was going to join the fighters guild. Thank you in advance for any insight...it's much appreciated

edit: My apologies if this is a topic that's been covered. I did a quick search and didn't find anything pertaining to whether or not an increase in the number of bull netches spawing is normal or not (just that it is normal for them to spawn around 5th or 6th level). Thanks again in advance :)

This should belong to mods section. I'm not aware of what exactly the Overhaul changes that's related to creatures and their leveled lists but spawning is totally randomized so it cound just be temporal netch party. :P

I think that's just vanilla level scaling. After that you get diseased animals, betty netches and daedra in Sheogorad.

Awesome, thank you for the info :) Are there any penalties for running around and taking them out? It's been a long time since I've played and I can't remember if there were any NPCs that react differently or anything of the like.

No penalties as far as I know of. My character has never experienced any trouble fighting them, especially not if they attack first.

Thank you for the info...I was also thinking about the netch leathers and didn't want take a bunch out and then find out there's some random quest or other variable that's affected by farming them lol. :)

There are a few Netch farms around the Ascadian Isles, with tame Netches. Other than those, you're free to hunt them, as long as you can deal with the Bull Netch's poisonous attacks. For whatever reason, both Bull and Betty Netches appear in huge numbers in the spawn lists of certain areas at some levels. With a notable exception or two (related to a quest, but you CAN kill them at any time and still complete the quest), they won't bother you if you don't bother them. Give it time, and other stuff will start to reappear a bit more often, although the Netches will still be relatively frequent in those spots for the rest of the game.

If you've got Morrowind Crafting or Complete Morrowind Full, the Netch Leather can be very useful, aside from its alchemical properties.
