Burglars (Daggerfall)

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:59 pm

Probably common knowledge, but the Burglar class CAN wear plate armors.
With this glitch/oversight they really are a lot of fun to play.

I have never made a custom class before.
Finished main quest w/ an Altmer Ranger/Vampire at level 12.(Like 12 years ago, but I remember it like yesterday)!

What's your fave canned class in Daggerfall?
I lean toward Knights and Burglars.
Can't live without the Plate armors.

My first character in Daggerfall was a Burglar, and I had a lot of fun with that character class. The ability to wear plate armor is probably what made it significantly more fun than another thieving class, although it's also fun to realistically limit oneself to chainmail every now and then.

I also got filthy rich with my Burglar :)

I tend to lean toward the heavy armor classes only
because of the variety of armor pieces.

Seen one suit of leather or chain, seen them all.

Unless the class was designed with plate being forbidden, you can wear anything. This is one of the good things about Daggerfall, you can do almost anything you please, such as using a burglar with plate.

You actually use canned classes? Weird!
Don't have a fave, as I never use them.

Although, on a related note, it's interesting that the human enemies are always made of the canned classes. This means that if you edit the canned classes, you effectively edit the human enemies in the game. I believe it is AndyFall that edits one of the classes (can't remember which) into the "Overlord" class, which starts with perfect stats. That's cool for yourself, if you want to be superpowered from the beginning, but it's rather terrifying to come across one in the wild. Luckily, both my encounters with overlords were out in the open outside a graveyard--I ran in terror from the first after the hopelessness set in, but I stuck it out with the second and it was one heck of a battle! He took forever to kill, resisted practically every spell I sent at him, and really knew how to dish it out. Aaaand, of course, He didn't have any extra-special loot to make up for it; just standard burglar fare. Well, it was an accomplishment nonetheless.

Weird huh?
Right now I'm trying the Nightblade class.
Very difficult...no ebony dagger at the start...33hp and a steel wakizashi.
I'm always up for a challenge.
And I also play Ironman style(death is the end).

So now I must be REALLY weird(in a good way).

Peace

I'm someone who's never played any of the canned classes. I've created characters with them purely to see what they picked.

From the very first time I loaded up the game, when I saw that I could create my own character class, I knew that this was the way to go for me.
