Burning Fetuses to heat UK Hospitals

Post » Wed Mar 26, 2014 7:06 am

So, I just read http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/10717566/Aborted-babies-incinerated-to-heat-UK-hospitals.html and a few other articles about how apparently a few hospitals in the UK are burning aborted fetuses to produce heat for their hospitals. I found this a very starkly interesting story. How does this feel and how would you feel about this if you discovered your local hospital to be doing this? Would you be outraged by this or would you be understanding?

How would that even heat it up? I can't imagine the mileage of one going very far. Surely it's just a rainy day thing?

And I suppose incineration is more humane than the garbage bin.

Seems weird they are just throwing flesh into their furnace.

Can't they just use, like, wood for this?

The article makes it seem like there are a few hospitals who are lying to their patients and telling them they are cremating the fetuses like the majority of the hospitals, but they are instead using them for heat.

Not surprising, considering the business they're in.

Well, incinerating is incinerating. Why not make use of the heat produced?

I guess it is better than using feces and liposuctioned fat..

At least it isn't as insane as what they do with the hair at the barbers/stylist/hairdoer..

Yeah, I thought about that. It's grim, but at least it's a pragmatic choice that helps those still alive in the hospital.

I don't see a problem with this. Once a baby has been aborted, it becomes waste that needs disposing of. There's no point sugar coating that fact. Why not find a good use for the waste?

As much as I find the image of a giant pile of fetuses being dumped into a fire unsettling, that is true.

They ARE cremating, they just aren't being wasteful.

Sounds better than a pit someplace to rot in the ground.

Personally, I don't think I would want my miscarried child to be reduced to a fuel source, but as for aborted foetuses the parent's probably don't care anyway.

Probably a result of the budget cuts, so they shouldn't really be banned from doing it otherwise they'll have to skimp somewhere else.

Exactly, why should it matter if it's "cremation" or not? They're aborted fetuses anyway, meaning that they didn't want them to live so they shouldn't care what happens to the leftovers.

Wow, they're cremating dead stuff, and not being wasteful about it!? What the actual [censored]. They were just unwanted, undeveloped, clinical waste flesh blobs anyway.

INHUMANE! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE! FETUSES ARE PEOPLE TOO!

I actually find it interesting for being such a unique resource. It's gross and probably disturbing to some, but everything has its uses. Even fetuses, apparently.

I think one thing I find so wasteful with this article is that people get all pissed off when aborted fetuses where going to be used for stem cell research---I've heard the theories and it's mind blowing just how some stem cells can probably be used to cure people who have had a stroke, cure spinal injuries and paralysis and many more medical miracles. Yet they want to use it for heating their buildings..... :wallbash: <----this says it best .

Im willing to accept many debatable actions for stem cell research :D I believe its an investment for the future, so obviously there's going to be a price.

On topic, my first thought was 'waste not want not', but yea im a little disturbed with throwing corpses to fuel heating. I mean, i know they're blobs of flesh already, but still  hmm.

Still i suppose at least they arent chopped up and fed to animals or something. Thats a little worse. Buuut i would be kinda fine with that still.

It seems strange you would be willing to kill the baby, but not to burn it....

Any sources other than the Telegraph? that newspaper tends to bend the truth quite a lot.
