In "Clothiers of Vaardenfell" Korana had a broken bottle mesh she used at the Wailing Wench, though she apparently didn't know who made it. I was wondering if there are any mods or resources out there that feature broken furniture, or broken windows... the kind of thing you might find in long abandoned houses or a pub after a brawl?

Wow. What an excellent idea! I hope you're going somewhere with this . . . as in a release? It would definitely help the atmosphere. The TR team may know where the bottle came from or have another. They've introduced a broken bottle weapon, I believe.

I can think of a lot of uses for such models, but I'm afraid I haven't the talent to make them. I would love to find some though...

I know TR adds broken bottles (check sig) :)

Edit: I don't know where they originated. :(

There was a modder resource a long time ago that had broken tables and such. I did a search in my archives using broken, and no luck, so the title may not have broken in it.

there is a mod out there that was made a couple years back as someone requested the same thing on the forums. I think it was cragior that made them??

So far, no luck. I've searched for "broken" "broken furniture" and so forth, but all I find are story lines or fan fiction type stuff. I've also searched for cragior, but there is apparently no current relevant info available.

I just tried it, and no luck. I've been trying to make my own with limited success by removing pieces of meshes in nifskope. I can make some debris that way, but not anything real impressive. :)

It wouldn't be too hard to make these - just import to Blender and use the Knife tool... what are you after in particular?

I have a lot of difficulty with blender... I'm "visually challenged" (read legally blind) and I have to use magnification utilities. Anyway, with the utility running, I can see only a tiny fraction of Blender's interface, and I'm always lost it seems :D

All I really had in mind was a broken chair or two, a table perhaps broken in half, or a bed with broken leg(s). Didn't you ever wonder why you go into a long abandoned dungeon and all of the furniture is perfect, and doesn't even have dust, windows have no cracks, candles are all lit?

I can do cracks in windows and add dust effects with textures, but the broken parts are beyond me.

How about retexturing some of the Dwemer stuff? Most of it shouldn't be difficult, and it definitely looks broken.

I've been trying to make some progress, and had some limited success... I hadn't thought of Dwemer stuff, but I'll give it a try too. the hard part is the lack of jagged or uneven edges. I'll get better with cracks and dust with a little practice.

If you're curios, here's a look at what I've been doing so far... maybe some of you guys who are good at this sort of thing will have a suggestion or two, eh? :)

Neildarkstar, I've been wanting to use stuff like what you're talking about for Pelagiad Expanded. Do you think you could model some animal poop? Or crumbled paper? I'm in need of trash and garbage and cluttery stuff. Pelagiad Expanded is dividied into a poor sectio nand a rich section. I have plenty of items for the rich section but I need more garbage and clutter for the poor section. I have Korana's broken bottle resource but it gets old seeing the same thing over and over. And it svcks that there is only one mesh for plain paper. Do you think you could do some stuff like that? I'd really love to have your help, as you seem to be after the same stuff I am.

I'd like to achieve the effect of http://asterling.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341ed39853ef011278d9c78a28a4-800wi as it looks super duper filthy.

If you have any ideas for Pelagiad Expanded, let me know too. Thanks!

IIRC, http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=1908 had some trash and bottles strewn about.

EDIT: I double checked, though it may have clutter, the mod doesn't come with any new meshes or textures.

Tes96,
I'm not really a modeler, that;s the problem... :) All I can do is some retexturing and remove pices of things here and there in nifskope.

I don't mind helping, and anything I make in that vein of things that you like, you can use. but for real modeling, you'll need someone who can use Blender or one of those types of software.

I don't know about animal poop, but there is at least one mod that brings in human scat. I'll have to poke around and see if I can find it.

Human scat? Sounds interesting. haha I should probably just make a request thread instead, and also put pictures of stuff I want to have modeled. Thanks.

nice job on the broken items. it makes me want to try torn and ripped tapisteries and rugs. i picked up a few new brushes that allow me to add tears and holes and rips in clothing. id imagine i could apply the same thing to tapisteries. with a few dark dusty dirt spots. im going to need alot of items like this for the mod im making as well. it would be a very nice resource to have in a mod pack. im sure quite a few modders would like to have access to items they could use to give that run down apperance. anyway after im done with the boots to my next outfit. ill see what i can do with a few rugs and tapisteries if your interested . just let me know if youd want me to use stock textures or come up with new origional torn ones

To be honest I think you've done a marvelous job so far! Your test cell really has the feel of a place abandoned in a hurry and fallen into ruin. The only thing I'd change is the dust on the table tops. A single handprint instead of large swipping motions would be eerily effective. Might also want to add some cobwebs to the a few things. Spills, moldy food and rotten food would also be great additions.

Looks like parts of the lantern mesh are disappearing (bottom and top between the glass and metal loop from that snapshot angle) - looks rather odd having the loop just floating there.

You might want to add some straw to the broken bed; more likely that MW beds are filled with straw than they are spring mattresses.

Otherwise, these are a nice touch!
