I owned this game and really liked it, almost got to level 50 before PSN went down, and sold it. Now thinking of re-purchasing as it is cheaper now (Uncharted 3 beta ending and am bored)

Before PSN went down I had issues of lag (always a 2 bar) as well as problems getting matches other than TIA. I could get into Crash SIte sometimes, but other times couldn't, and never got into any other game modes. If you have never had any of these problems then not worth replying as mit wont indicate whether the game is better for someone like me

Has the situation (re: the above problems) been improved at all with patches/changes to playlists? Will i have to purchase the DLC packs to be able to get games?

Don't want to buy it again, as well as purchase DLCs to only play TIA and look at "searching for games" screen

I'd say buy it again (2nd Hand can't go wrong), lag is sometimes an issue (Orbital strike) but usually its fine. Generally i find games if its the normal maps. I've purchased the 2nd DLC and i struggle to get games with that but if you add people from the forums you'll get games no problem (I was playing with 4-5 people the other night on 2nd DLC and we found a game everytime). Crytek have changed the way the game modes are selected now (They've been grouped into there own playlist) so its alot better at finding them.

Just have a browse around the forums see what people are saying make your mind up from that. Personally i'd say go for it but maybe wait for the DLC until you've got peeps on your friends list with it as well.

Yeah i bought again. its a really fun game.

only prob is i cant get into a crash site match on the same side of the planet. onlt TIA for me

wont be getting dlc as there seems to be very few even playing the normal maps. if i bought them dont think id even get a match.
