Buying Morrowind?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 7:52 pm

and the aussie dollar is pretty strong at the moment so you may even get it for slightly less than what it actually is on steam. i only had to pay $19.72 or something lol.

I didn't even think about the Steam price in AUD! It makes sense though, with the two currencies being at (or very close to) parity.

I'm installing Steam now. I've never used it before, but have a number of friends who have - hopefully tonight I'll be able to play Morrowind and start exploring Vvardenfell!

No, I mean I don't plan on CREATING mods, which requires the Construction Set (or whatever Morrowind's is called) which isn't included in the Steam GOTY  of course I plan to install some mods!

Even if you do not plan on making any mods ( i didn't plan on making any either when i first started playing )It is still handy to http://morrowind.nexusmods.com/mods/29388 as you may need it to tweak the odd mod to suit your personal taste ,resolve compatibility issues or fix the odd glitch you find annoying.

Ahhh! Thank you VERY much! Interesting that it was an error by Valve and not intentional ...

And it's more like best $20 of my life. Assuming I enjoy the game, that is ;)

well it depends if you are a collector, i bought mine ower ebay all tha way from Usa. anyway, don't listen to all the morrowind fan-boys, they belive that quantity makes a game hardcoe, Morrowind is easy to understand and master, especially if you have experience from games like Skyrim and Oblivion, so you will definitely enjoy it.

It's sooo much better than Skyrim.
yeah, and Daggerfall is sooo much better than Morrowind :)

Who said anything about that here? The unnecessary nastiness was uncalled-for.

i'm sorry, sometimes i get a little dragged on by the hating on the newer games by some of the members, what i wanted to say is that the game isn't as hard as the second poster wants it to be.

I know the feeling, actually. Just hours after I wrote that post I got into an argument with someone in the Oblivion forums who wrote a long rant against Skyrim that had nothing whatsoever to do with the thread he was posting in. I've decided I just don't feel at home in the Oblivion forums anymore. They can't seem to discuss Oblivion without criticizing Skyrim. My nerves are a little on edge lately from reading all this constant criticism.

I'm sorry if my post came off sounding a little harsh. I think both of us may have been suffering from the exact same aggravation. :)

I've noticed this too - the polite Oblivion forum has become flooded with new threads ... Most of which compare it to Skyrim. I think people are starting to become a little burned out with Skyrim, and are re-visiting old games.

But now I'm off topic D: I'm honestly not looking to compare Morrowind with any other game - I'm just hoping to enjoy the game :)

I went through Gamestop's download application, and downloaded the Morrowind game through that... very recently, I might add. I first played Morrowind through the original XBox machine, and this version is through computer.

True, Morrowind graphics aren't as stellar as in Oblivion and especially Skyrim, but what it lacks in graphics is made up for in the level of roleplay, the variety of weapons, th variety of armors and aparel, the length of time it takes to rise to the top of any faction, the things you can equip, the junk you can pick up.

Seriously, if Oblivion and Skyrim had the same level of graphics but with Morrowind's content, it couldn't fix on a 360 disk... probably not on two of them.

It's worth it if you can stand the extremely tedious first hour.

Ok, so an update on the 'buying process'. I've decided to go with Steam, however I ran into some problems actually installing Steam. But the problem's solved now, and I plan to buy (and play!) Morrowind tomorrow morning :) again, a big thanks to everyone for their advice!
